Re: 10 meter windlass

Mine is mounted only on the pulpit (covering some of the teak) so that the anchor locker is still functional. On a lot of the 10 meters I've seen, the windlass is mounted farther back and directly on top of the anchor locker hatch making it unusable. I guess to compensate, I have also seen access ha...

Re: Kidde fire extinguisher recall

So this is a bit scary. Thanks to this post, I have one for each car, two for the house and four on the boat now replaced. They send you the new ones and boxes to send the olds ones back. I figured since I have all the extra ones around, let me run a few drills with family and friends. I just "teste...

Re: winterize fresh water system!

I started doing it that way because I was sick of the mutiple tank flushes in the spring as well. I use a pancake compressor and set it to around 20psi connected to my dockside fill. The connection is a short piece of hose and then I duct tape it to the compressor fitting (zip tie on the trigger so ...

Re: Fla guys - how did you make out?

Good to hear that. Coincidentally, the people my boat have a place in Punta Gorda and said it's still about 40% w/o power.

Fla guys - how did you make out?

Harris, I was thinking of you as Punta Gorda was on the news quite a bit. Hope everyone escaped w/o major damage.

10m radar arch pics

I could swear I posted this before but maybe not. Someone else asked me for a pic on my repair and ideas on recoring the Int'l radar arches: image.jpeg You can clearly see the area of repair and I think this is fairly common on most. A couple of people have had rot on the top and that's a function o...

Re: 10 Meter Express - RADAR ARCH NEEDS NEW HOME

The problem is the factory never added weep holes. The water gets into the arch and has no way to drain out. When I recored mine, I epoxied every inch of exposed would and routed a couple of "u" shaped channels on each side. I can occasionally see a dirt line after it rains so I know they are workin...

No, only the 11m on up are cored. All glass from the rub rail down.

Re: 10 meter fuel tank access ?

Rob, Looks like you have a 10m "Mid Cabin" from your pics. That is what I have and the layout is completely different than the similar looking Express model of the same size. For the tank access, specifically the anti-siphon valves, you need to remove the outer engine hatches. Move the corner bench ...

Re: New gauges in 10m Sedan

wow, that's weird. The orientation is correct when I view it on my Ipad but upside down as I'm viewing it here on my laptop. Let me see if I can fix that. Also, the cupholder with the Corona is a chiller. It's one of the best upgrades I have made so far. Made by Dometic "Eskimo Cup" and around $160 ...

Re: New gauges in 10m Sedan

image.jpeg Here is a shot of the whole thing. One add'l thing I did was replace all of the spade connections with ring terminals. I was swapping all of the switches anyway so that was an easy upgrade and makes for much more reliable connections. Part of the problem is the number of accessories runn...

Re: New gauges in 10m Sedan

I did this over the winter including all new wiring. It's not for the faint of heart unless you just want to do a cosmetic refresh of what is there. I started from scratch, reconfigured the gauge and switch locations, all new wiring, all new gauges, added terminal blocks under the helm and also affi...

Re: Mid Cabin - windshield trim/glazing

I have read that there is a method to weld the corners using heat (Taylor maybe?). It sounded too complicated so I used 3m rubber trim cement (Pep Boys). It's held up fine so far but it's only been one season.

Re: What have I gotten myself into ....

Well, it's easy to get overwhelmed. Resign yourself to the fact that the first season will be miserable until you get through the initial learning curve. Once you get a full season under your belt which includes winterizing and a launch, you'll be fine. For now, take it one system at a time. On the ...

10m mid cabin - fresh water tank monitor install

I have been wanting to install a panel monitor for some time now. The challenge on the mid cabin is access to the tank, it's fairly well protected. It's also shaped to sit in the hull as a "V". I was texting back and forth with Kegan who sent me a pic of the top of the tank where the fill and vent a...
