Re: 36ft Trogan tricabin

I have a 73 Tricabin. I have Walters V drives and I expect you have the same. I have the same red lights that are connected to pressure switches in each Walters V drive. The lights go out when the engines go above something like 1400 RPM. I think it’s to show oil pressure in the V Drive. The Walters...

Hoist position for Tri-cabin

We've had our 73 Tri-cabin since 2010 and every fall I have it hoisted out for winter storage. It's always a concern as to where to place the rear hoist straps. The hoist straps crush on the splash boards, so years ago I made some angular wood pieces covered with carpet to stand the hoist straps awa...

Re: Burning out coils??

How about wrong ballast resister or the resister is being bypassed after the engine is started allowing the coil to overheat. I believe it's only bypassed to start the engine so you get a hotter spark to start. Maybe you have it switched.

I've always dreamed of doing what you are scheming. I don't think I have the computer skills to do it , but I will be reading all you have to post on this. Don't stop

Re: F36 tri-cabin speed

My 73 tri cabin has 400s. With 20x17 3 blade props. Don't recall the v drive and velvet drive ratios but it's all stock. I cruise always at 3000rpm and run at about 17-19 mph. I have had her up to around 3600rpm which was pretty maxed out at 24mph I know this probably doesn't help but I did get a se...

Re: Tricabin Cockpit U-Shaped Seating Reno

Thank you for reposting this. It looks beautiful. I have been using a few crapy deck chairs for years and have been putting up with passenger complaints about the terrible support of my back rest cushions on the rear seats. This will help me resolve the back cushions. I hope my wife doesn't see your...

Re: Remounting windshield frame

I saw that captain tolley's stuff when I did a search on this topic. I think that might be good for the window to frame seals too, so I will look into getting some. Before I wrote this topic on the forum I thought to myself, what would Aaron answer with, since I believe his dad had the same 73 tri c...

Re: Remounting windshield frame

Great point on the 4000, for the uv. I will look at seeing if I can stay away from lifting the whole frame up to caulk it. Sometimes I get carried away and and may not be able to help myself, but we'll see. I can also seal the mounting nut/washers from underneath.

Thanks guys for the input.

Remounting windshield frame

I was just reading the post on the 73 tricabin hardtop and can relate to many of the concerns he listed. I call my 73 tri cabin more of a journey that has ups and downs. So far I wouldn't trade that journey for anything ( ok maybe that 's a bit exaggerated). Anyways, the mounting holes that secure m...

Re: Stalling engine

Makes sense about the idle being too low. I assumed the specs on the engine dwell and timing at idle applied. I will also recheck with the idle mix screws too.

Thanks guys

Stalling engine

Anyone have any ideas on why my port engine stalls when in idle and in gear once the engine is warmed up. At 500-550 RPM with no load the engine throbs. This is a '73 400 Chrysler Marine. It's been like this for several years and I figured it's time to try to do something about it. I did check dwell...

Re: Soft Deck (small area) Repair

Paul, I'm just finishing up doing the work from below on my deck. Look for my post about a month ago. I also had an area like yours where I drilled a hole a couple inches in diameter and found it dry but a little soft from a leak eons ago. The guy before me mounted some things and then patched the m...

Re: Project "Tri Fly"

I'm not an expert by any means, but my transom was moving a lot at that joint I refer to in even the mildest seas. Those 1/4-20 bolts don't do much. There was another guy I spoke to who had a Tri cabin in Alpena Michigan, he had this same issue. He actually came to see mine to see how I made the rep...

Re: Project "Tri Fly"

I think what I added at the transom were hockey stick shaped pieces also. I had one more issue with mine that you should check considering the amount of work you are doing. Although my stringers were and still are solid, there is a spot or area on the outer stringers that you should look at. It's ri...
