Re: Toilet removal on 10 meter

Ok, can close out the toilet subject. Finally found a Raritan Sea Era QC in Defender's link. Will ship tomorrow. Dometic had shut down for virus, so all 5 local dealers in the area (Destin to Mobile) had nothing. Jabasco was third option but understand they are now a Chinese firm and their reviews w...

Re: Toilet removal on 10 meter

Not going to use raw water. Old toilet out. Looking at the Dometic 7220 or Raritan Sea Era QC fresh water, compact bowl, for both. Might be able to put either one in the cavity where the VF sat. Dometic uses same water and discharge line sizes. Raritan same discharge size but water is 3/4. System is...

Re: Toilet removal on 10 meter

Have researched toilets and other boat forums. Right now top of the list is the Raritan Sea Era QC model for an install next to the existing molded in toilet.(Or may just cut some of the old toilet structure out and mount there. Have to look at that once we get the old toilet out.) Can use the exist...

Re: Toilet removal on 10 meter

One more question. After it is removed are there any toilet systems with macerator attached that will drop in. Looks like a pretty big space and with today's newer technology with built in macerators and 90 degree outlets just wondering if anyone has tried to drop another system in. Not a vaccuflush...

Toilet removal on 10 meter

On the 1986 10 meter how do you get the toilet out of the molded fiberglass support. Do you strip all the calking around the seams and after removing hoses etc, it will lift out?

Vaccuflush system

10 meter, 1984, previous posts discussed replacing versus fixing existing system. Tried porta potty for a year but need toilet. Now the question. is there a vaccu flush system, hardware etc,, that I could hook to the existing plumbing under the deck ---replacing all except the toilet in the head?? T...

Agreed. The only way to really empty the mid cabin bilge...which is always wet!

Re: Best way to find a leak??

One more infor-not running A/C. Have dehumidifer dumping in kitchen sink down new hose to thru hull. Still have refirg. out and did check on that connection etc. It is good. We are working some issues with the Cummins engines. Blew hose in fresh water tank on first trip, and other engine got hot on ...

Re: Best way to find a leak??

Thanks for the additional replies. Believe we may have found the problem. On the boat the drain hoses for the bathroom sink and the kitchen sink are thin black hoses. Touching the one under the bathroom sink and it crumbled into pieces. Removed the cover plate on the toilet side wall to look in and ...

Re: Best way to find a leak??

Appreciate the suggestions thus far. Should have noted just had new shaft packing installed. Went from a dripping dripless to a dripping type system that doesn't drip when not turning. Did check that to see if they were dripping and they weren't. Maybe a thru hull along the sides since there are so ...

Best way to find a leak??

Boat is a 1986 Trojan 10 meter express with tower and twin Cummins. Knew from reading forum it was a boat that got rain water in the bilge, but haven't had rain for most of the month and still have water. We turned off bilge pumps and noted water buildup in the bow area with it really noticeable at ...

Re: Racor 900 versus spin on spin off filters

Appreciate the information. Will keep the Racors, since it is a plus to see the condition of the fuel in my situation. I'll turn the task over to son-in-law. LOL. Anyway we have an agreement--Our 5th boat, but this time I told him I would buy the boat but he had to maintain it. He has had one boat o...

Re: Changing toilet system from vaccuflush???

Big D, appreciate your posts-most helpful in my endeavor. Will post picture if do put in something other than Porta Potty. As I noted we are 24 miles from pump out station, so Porta Potty may be best. (Unless I put in a Y valve and pump out with Wed/Dry Vac like I did with the previous boat, Califor...

Re: Changing toilet system from vaccuflush???

One more thing-not going to cut the other one out of the toilet cabin. Wife and Daughter love to fish, main purpose of boat, so even the bag would suffice, but for now will go porta potty, but might go ahead and install a Raritan thanks to the forums suggesions.
