Mark:

Sorry, but I cant really be of any help to you. I know that the door posts and window frames will have to be removed after the top comes off, but I'm not sure how that is accomplished.

Are you going to have her out of the water for a while?

Mark: The cockpit roof on my boat was removed by a 70mph flat-line wind and the folks at the marina repaired/replaced the roof in my absense, so I don't know how it comes apart. However, everybody I talked to emphatically advised me not to trailer an old wood boat. Where are you moving yours from &a...

Thanx again for all the responses. I got to looking at my deck more closely and noticed that the boards on the bow appear to have shrunk a bit so that the black sealer(if that's what it is) between the boards now sticks up above the boards a bit. I'm wondering if Cetol will solve that problem as wel...

Thanx y'all. Looks like I'll be buying Cetol. I'm all for anything that requires less maintenance -- I already have plenty of other work to do on this old girl.

Which Teak Oil

I'm getting ready to oil the deck on my 42' Sea Voyager and was wondering if anybody has recommendations on what's the best brand or which ones to avoid. Also wondering if anybody has an idea of how much it's oil likely to need. Judging by appearances, it hasn't been done in a while.

Great idea! You can see a few pics of my woody at http://s924.photobucket.com/home/GruntzenGrones/index

As you can see, she needs lots of cosmetic work -- ought to keep me out of trouble for the next couple of years

Oldest Sea Voyager??

I bought my 1967 42' Sea Voyager in Pickensville, AL back in January and have finally completed the 908-mile trip by water to Little Rock, AR. She did quite well for a 43-year-old woody is now resting comfortably at her new home. I've been looking around the net and can't seem to find anyone with a ...

My Simple Solution: When my friend Dave & I brought my '67 42' woody to Memphis, TN from the Tennessee River, were 3 miles upriver from Mud Island Harbor at Memphis when a strong thunderstorm arrived. Just as we entered the harbor, the port engine died and wouldn't restart and the wind was gusti...

JW: One very important piece of info you need is the gear ratio because the 71C & 72C ratios will vary to work with the size of the engine. For example, my boat with 427s uses a 2.57:1 ratio. Although Prowler is right about 71 & 72 series being interchangeable, you may need to have a longer ...

67 Sea Voyager Trip from AL to AR

I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I'd catch y'all up. After a few fits & starts -- clogged exhaust manifold water jacket, 2 broken strut bolts & a broken flex plate -- the boat is now in Memphis with only 270 of the original 900 miles left to go. Unfortunately, I ran out of time &...

Foofer B: Yeah, I think I'd prefer Naples but I've never been there so I don't know what the area is like. I've been to all the others at least twice and the Miami area does look to be a hassle! The Jax slip fees work out to $6.50/foot (with the free 6 mo.) which isn't that much more than the $5.00 ...

Best Florida Home Port for me & my 1967 42' woody?

OK, so maybe I'm getting ahead of myself here, but I plan to move to FL within the next couple of years and am wondering where the best place to land would be. I can choose between Naples, Tampa, Miami area or J'ville because I work for Whole Foods and can easily transfer to a store in any of these ...

Prowler: Don't I wish it was 13-14mpg -- I meant to type "mph." LOL

jwrape: Thanx, not a bad idea about the appliances although I do kinda like the "retro" look of the brown. BTW that's a mighty pretty ride you've got, yourself.
