Thanks for the ecouraging numbers. Since I am pushing a 30 foot hull with flybridge those numbers sound great. I have been seeing 12-15 kts for a half a mile per gallon. The Chrysler 318/s are dependable engine's however, I have had to keep my foot in the carburator to stay on plane. The PCM 5.7 EFI...

Hi folks: I finally decided to re-power. My old 318/s are up for grabs. I replaced both carbs a year ago. They are Edlebrock four barrels and two new distributors replaced last year. The left engine has 200 hours and good compression, the right engine has 1100 hours and needs rebuilt. I'm going to n...

Nor Star Captain: The lines I am not sure about but I do know that the teak oil from years of applications, mask the true beauty of the Teak. I currently am refurbishing my Teak on my 1976 F30. A high pressure power washer rented from Home Depot along with a 50/50 mix of Clorox bleach and water work...

Repower

Hi Ken: I have an F30 1976 model with twin Chyrsler 318's. My boat mechanic has told me when I repower that I should go to Chevy 350's as well. I ask him if I would have to change the transmissions and he told me no. The standard factory Trojan Velvet drive 1:1 works fine with the Chevy 350. I hope ...

Prop question

Dean: I have a 1976 F30 with the same engines. The owners manual is generic and does not specify what props came new with the boat. I researched and found from the critics corner that Lakeland Boating Magazine in 1976 had a good article on the F30 and listed all the details from the factory and the ...

Engine problem

Hi Rusty: I found that old distributors with centrifugal spark advancement do not hold up if there old and original equipment. I replaced my distributors so the engines would stay timed properly and most importantly my flame arrestors, (air filters) and got another 2000 RPM out of my engines. Before...
