Re: Diesels The perfect engines or not ?

My Dad used to say, "A ship in port is safe, but that is not what ships are made for".

He also said, " Wish in one hand and s**t in the other and see which one fills up first".

-and-

"If you're gonna starve to death, why work up an appetite?"

Re: Diesels The perfect engines or not ?

Over 200 hours per season of early April through mid September. No sense in having a boat to only sit in a harbor. :D

Five seasons and about 1100 hours later, not a trace of remorse.

Re: Hand Carved Teak Models

Thank you,

They are obviously more expensive than we would like, but it takes an incredible amount of time to carve one. It is what it is.

They are indeed impressive in person.

Re: Swim Platform Support Arms

I installed my swim platform about 20+ years ago. For support arms, I simply cut 7/8" or 1" (can't remember which) stainless tubing to desired length for each strut plus about 2" at each end. I then flattened each end in a vice, bent the flattened end about 45 degrees and drilled a ho...

Thank you for asking Bob about more line drawings.

Yes, F32's are trending in Whittier, Alaska right now.

These are the only 'line drawings' I've ever seen, taken from an older Power Boat guide.

Does anyone know if any other drawings exist?

Thanks,
Dave

F-32 Hand carved scale model

Good day all, I'm spending several months in Laos this year and have discovered some really exceptional local wood carvers. Intentions are to commission one to carve a likeness of my F32. I have tons of images and even a couple of line drawings, but nothing that gives a good depiction of the hull sh...

Re: Interesting Trojan Story

If you find yourself in this unfortunate sea condition and are unable to steer into the sea, you have to either power up and outrun the sea, which can be hairy in itself, or slow down and let the sea pass under you while steering with the throttles only. Trim tabs fully retracted in either scenario.

Re: Interesting Trojan Story

The worst sea state for the F32 is not really big seas (10 - 15 footers). It is in fact close, steep six to eight footers. That's where I've been scared multiple times and almost became a statistic twice. In a steep, short wavelength, following sea the F32 will turn 90 degrees, broach and roll in th...

Re: Hydraulic steering

Instant Fun has SeaStar (Teleflex) hydraulic steering at 2 helms. No electric assist or hydraulic assist from the engines, just the manual pump at each helm. Steers like butter with one finger in the wheel. In fact you can spin the wheel while underway. Also, the Garmin autopilot SmartPump tied righ...
