Re: New Flybridge Controls

Like most boat repairs/maintenance/upgrades that really matter, this is one that makes the boat safer, and one that no guest will notice...... Good trick with the coupling nuts. Similar trick when adding a new wire inside an existing "occupied" conduit: tie two wires to an existing one. Use existing...

Re: Crusader 454 xli fuel issue?

Can you switch fuel sources in the engine room? Would rule out anti-siphon valve and maybe (some, not necessariliy all) filter issues. I had erratic rpm issues and it was due to tired distributor springs. Are you sure it is related to temperature? That said, i have seen ignition coils and resistors ...

Re: What battery charger would you go with? Promariner or Mastervolt

I have a promariner 12-40p. No problems in 5 years, thus no customer service experience. You might consider a dual-purpose charger-inverter. But do your homework first re: battery capacity needed to support inverter. I went separate inverter 'cuz i replaced charger first, then wanted inverter. But m...

Re: Twin engine, dual battery hookup on F 36

I believe the batteries are always put in parallel when starting the engines and the emergency start switch is actually a backup system in case the rectifier that parallels the batteries fails. Or when youre in a bad way and you need to combine the batts to transmit a mayday. IIRC, my manual indica...

Good use of materials. I’ve never seen bamboo used on a boat, but it looks great.
Agree. One thing about bamboo is that it's termite proof.

Re: Cappy's f32 rehab

If you don't have a gas/water separator in your fuel system, adding one would be a good idea. We use Racor's 320 series filters with an aluminum bowl that you can periodically check to see if water has been captured. Have you found a gasoline-rated vacuum gauge to accompany them? They have them for...

Re: Cappy's f32 rehab

Additives that remove water don't do much best to pump the water out of the bottom of the tank . Also look at the check valves at the tank fitting . As far as the gauges go it sounds like the senders and the gauges are not compatible . Bought me one of these to remove water from the tank. Pumped ab...

Re: Shore Power connection cables

I upgraded to smartplugs. Inspect the existing cable sheathing for cracks or brittleness, and the conductors for corrosion. If you run new wires, use the old wires as ur fish tape to pull the new wires into place. And i would add strain relief to the cabling regardless. In a house, which doesnt exac...

Re: F36 aft sink drain discharge location

Is there a way to mount the electrical panels on a “door” the swings open for easy access. Probably not, or I would have done it..... You can protect your woodwork if you gently file the back edges of the panels so that they are not sharp, and apply tape to the edge of the panel each time you take ...
