Re: mid cabin fuel filters

I added 10 micron water separating filters on the engine room forward bulkhead in my tricabin, right near the fuel manifold, which i also updated. Prior to that, my first fuel filter was mounted on the rear of the engine. I refreshed the engine-mounted filter, then figured that the new filters would...

Re: 10.8 Trojan Fresh Water Mystery

And you'll want to do something about the two loose wires encumbering the bilge pump float switch.

Glad your mystery is solved.

Re: Bay Bridge Swim 2019

I cant post the video, but here is a screen cap of some of the ride home. Note towel over the gauges, and note how the wiper didnt hardly sweep the water as it passed through the deluge. Never green water over the bow, but no shortage of white water over the canvas. Yee ha! Last leg outta the bay wa...

Re: Hydraulic Rudder Control or lack there of

No power steering, per se. Your arms pump fluid when they turn the wheel. Think of hydraulic steering as easy to run mechanical cables, nothing more.

You said there was air. Is there oil visible in the sight glass on the transom-mounted reservoir?

Re: 12 meter mystery tank

I recall when the minuteman missile was being put in the titan silos. They were bigger than the older missles. The air force was recruiting skinny missle techs, so they could fit in the available space.

How about a kid, or skinny boat mechanic?

Re: OE Autopilot

My bet for port engine is ignition problems. Weak distributor springs. Plenty of old threads here about "won't rev in gear".

Great choice of boat.

Re: Engine Synchonizer

PO removed mine -- installed some dual tach/synchronizer get up. I removed THAT and installed port n starboard digital tachs, compliments of ebay. My mechanic, nursed from analog gauges since birth sez, "ENGINES DONT CHANGE BY 1 RPM LIKE THAT!" Ahem, yes they do, you just cant tell with defacto auto...

Re: Sherwood GB-7 Raw Water Pump

So the problem is that there is no problem? Ive seen leaking seals stop leaking before. I attribute it to microscopic crap contaminating the sealing surface. Eventually, it goes away and seal is restored. You didnt say how much it was dripping, or whether it only happened while in operation. Was it ...

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal

In an accessible location, closeset to where any bilge water is when boat is at rest, since most boats that sink do so while unattended in a slip.

Mine is adjacent to engine room fwd bulkhead.
