Re: Barnacle Buster

I put Barnacle buster in both of my engines, generator and A/C units last year. I saw a drop in temps on both engines, 5 degrees on one and 10 degrees on the other. I didn’t recirculate it just sucked it in and let it sit for maybe 6 or 7 hours then started the engines and flushed it out. Couldn’t t...

Re: Air Conditioner

When we had our F32 we put in an A/C. We did a 16k Mermaid unit. It was the minimum that I would ever go in an F32. And then only if you use a cover over the windshield in the cabin. Trojan had a spot under the helm for the install. We used that area. The V berth is not an ideal location since the c...

Re: Heavy Duty Cleats

If they are similar to the cleats on an F32, they are tapped cleats. You can goggle them.

Re: Zinc Anodes

When you thru bolt the S/S brackets, on the inside run a bonding wire from each bracket to your bonding system and your current anodes should protect the brackets.

Re: windows

Taylor Made is on Ship Shape TV regularly. They say they can make windshields and windows from back in the 60s. Have you asked them if they can custom make one?

Re: Catrostrophic hull failure

Your insurance should cover your loss. They will then go after the yard for blocking it improperly. Then the lawyers will figure it out... good luck, hope it works out well for you.

Re: Catrostrophic hull failure

Get your insurance company to send a surveyor out asap. I would take lots of photos from every angle.

Re: Battery wiring

Yes, Trojan used a regular house Square D panel in my friends 1989 10.8 Meter. In a home all the neutrals go together as well as the safety ground. The problem is that a house does not have 2 service entrances, usually, but lots of boats do have 2 inlets. So you need 2 neutral bus bars that are sepe...

Re: Battery wiring

When the neutrals are combined in the boat with 2 shore power cords, the return current does not necessarily return on the cord that it was supplied on. The dock GFIs are set to 30ma. Say you are consuming 5 amps on each cord, if more than 5.03 amps returns on one cord, the GFI will trip. If, on the...

Re: Battery wiring

I agree that you should start with Beacon Marine and a witing diagram, however you may not want to rewire your boat as it was originally wired. Things have changed with the new (2011) NEC. Docks are going to have GFIs on them and Trojan did not wire these boats to work with GFIs if you have 2 shore ...

Kidde fire extinguisher recall

Kidde is recalling huge numbers of fire extinguishers with plastic handles. Check out their web site for info. I just called and they are replacing 6 of mine.

Re: 1983 f-32 AC placement

We had a bra for the windshield on the F32. The windshield is very large. I ordered 80" Sunbrella in order to make it from one piece.

Re: 1983 f-32 AC placement

We installed a 16K Mermaid in our F32. We put it directly under the lower helm. The water heater was moved outboard and there was plenty of room for the A/C. Had to custom fabricate a plenum for the supply ducts. Put the main supply vent in the deck right above the unit and ran 2 4" supply duct...

Re: Hatch Hinge

On my previous boat, an F32 I used 3" S/S piano hinges. I didn't have struts but since the hatches are so heavy it might be a good idea.

Re: F-28 Blower/Blowers

Our F32 had 3 blowers, 2-4" and 1-3" blower. It may have been over kill, but no fumes were going to stay in there very long. They were original equipment. 2 of them made a lot of grinding noise when activated so I had an alternator shop rebuild them for $25 each.
