Re: 440 block drain plugs

I just wanted to thank you for helping me out once again.
Initially, I only looked at the stbd. side of the motor. My laziness seemed to disappear when I was facing an overnight low temperature in the low teens and there it was.

440 block drain plugs

hey guys it's been years since I visited. I finally got the f-30 in the water this year and just had it pulled out for the winter. I'm in the process of winterizing my raw water cooled 440 and I'm having difficulty identifying the drain plugs in my engine block. Any guidance would be greatly appreci...

Re: Painting Bilge

This is a thread with some pictures from when I painted my bilge. I used some sort of simple green type product(Krud Kutter if I'm not mistaken) and a lot of hot water to clean it. Let it dry, wiped it down with mineral spirits and painted with Bluewater marine alkyd 50. Unfortunately, I haven't lau...

Re: f25 plumbing questions

In the picture of the head itself, it looks like the hose connected to the top of the toilet is pinched. I would try loosening the hose clamp and spinning the hose to get rid of the kink or consider replacing it.

Re: Buying a new VHF...

I ended up getting the Standard Horizon GX2150. For the price you get so many features I couldn't pass it up. Now I just have to find the wire that will allow it to communicate with my chartplotter. I think I read somewhere that someone had to splice two wires together in order to have the correct c...

Re: Relocating Down South

welcome to the forum let me start by answering the tricky one. It sounds like yout motors are gas so the expense of actually driving the boat down the river(mississippi?) all the way to the gulf of mexico(you mentioned salt water). I know I'm making assumptions here but I'm just trying to fill in th...

Re: Buying a new VHF...

Is this the Standard Horizon being talked about? I too need to replace a radio and have been considering this. http://www.standardhorizon.com/indexVS.cfm?cmd=DisplayProducts&ProdCatID=83&encProdID=8E6B84CBCC75E5A9C52CA71AA33BA6F5&DivisionID=3&isArchived=0 Yes that one, and the AIS m...

Re: Buying a new VHF...

I think I like the standard with built in gps that was about 200 bucks. My gps has the link up for that but for 200 why not benefit from the redundancy and eliminate the need for an extra wire? Then if my gps dies, all I need is the vhf and a paper chart. It will be like the 1990's again, except my ...

Buying a new VHF...

The boat came with a well used vhf so I've decided to get a new one and keep the old one as a backup. Does anyone have any experience with these VHF radios that can communicate with the gps for emergency purposes? I have a Garmin 597ci finder/chartplotter that isn't the newest technology out there b...

Re: White vinyl headliner, with or without holes?

I'm thinking about spraying closed cell foam before I install the headliner. I can only get around 1 inch in most areas but it will prevent condensation and and be waterproof. I was trying to decide if it would be worth it , It sounds like it might be. Any tips or suggestions would really be apprec...

Re: This is a Strange one.......

strange indeed...

did the water sit in the line for an extended period of time?
maybe a compromised cold water line perhaps recent activity near the water line may have damaged it. if it's only one faucet perhaps rusting/rotting faucet.

Re: Boating log book

My good friend, who actually introduced me to Trojans with his 1976 F26 kept a mini legal pad in the "everything" drawer. We refer to this book as the captians' log. We would record stuff like the dates, where we went, weather conditions, seas, where the fish were, what we used for bait, a...
