Re: Trojan F36 Port Motor Starting Problem

I had similar symptoms and traced it to a faulty engine synchronizer. Pulled it out of the system and haven't had a problem since. It was the old strobe light style.

Re: F36 Convertible Sliding Door Track

Years ago when I was younger, I worked at a glass shop. We did quite a bit of residential work. Doorwalls were one thing we serviced. When we ran into bad channels we used a SS U channel cap over the top of the existing aluminum track. Worked like a charm. You might want to try that first. Easier an...

Re: Dreaded 2 Engine failure

Oh yeah.....the synchronizer worked before I removed it.
It was the hooded strobe light type.
Both engines are completely independent now as well.

Re: Dreaded 2 Engine failure

Remove the synchronizer! It may not be the issue, but it can contribute. I chased a stalling engine for four long years. If it wasn't one it was the other. Sometimes both. Sometimes no issues. But both motors were always linked. Replaced ignitions, coils, wiring, alternators, charger. Even carbs thi...

Re: 318 won't stop cranking

Have you rewired anything on your engine lately? Or Did this just start happening?
If you rewired, check your work.
If it just started happening, than either the solenoide is shot and stuck open. Or your hot wire from the start switch is staying activated. Probably at your switch.

Re: Arm rest on late 70s / early 80s F boat bridge seats

They are an extremely simple design. 1/2 ply base with 2 blind nuts, foam and covering. Carefully remove the cover if you want to re-use, and you'll have access to the spinning nuts. I re-worked my seats completely. Everything but the aluminum parts. I painted those. Also made wood armrests. The se...

Re: Carter rebuild kit help ???

$400 to rebuild!?!? Wow.... I just bought two brand new edelbrocks last season for $375 a piece. Same as stock carbs. They run flawlessly. Rebuilding is simple. Not many parts come in the kits. I did that first. Bought them on Amazon. After 35+ years they were beyond repair though. Everything was sl...

Re: New Enclosure Installed

I've been slowly replacing all my old hardware on my F32. To the point that my crappy tarnished canvas fasteners were looking too bad to ignore any longer. This company sells first rate replacements at great prices. http://www.sailrite.com/All-Hardware/Fasteners-and-Hooks They should have everything...

Re: Batteries / rubber window flap

That gray box should house a solenoid that triggers the battery linking. Either by pushing the emergency start switch at the helm (red), along with the normal start switch. Or, if your boat has it, the auto linking that always links the two start batteries whenever you start either engine normally. ...

Funny!
Thanks for the input everyone.
I might wait until next winter to tackle it. If I do it. I have too much to do before launch!

Mike,
Exactly my reasons for questioning. I just wish the cord/hose weren't at the entry points.
