Can someone walk me through replacing the impeller on a merc 233. Ford block. Id like to replace them before dropping in in3 weeks. Can you get to the back plate easily ? I will try and describe the replacement . Its not hard but some times you have to pull the pump ( always mark up and down . )

I know the top side were wood not sure if they covered them and if so what with , Owens used canvas , Someone will know . Bob ?

Its just slightly lower then the spray rails on the side ,maybe 3/4" . Sorry about my thumb . A F32 looked about the same place (no spray rails )

Red Flag !! Your coolant is wrong for the Detroit's You need a coolant that meets Detroit specs with the right SCAs .Without it cavation can cause cylinder sleeve damage . flush it and get the right stuff in it . The F36 next to mine has one , if I can remember I will take a photo and mess distance off the water . Painted Water lines vary boat to boat . Mines the same year and there is a big diff .

Very nice !!! And Yes you have Turbos 671TI The T is for turbo I is for intercooled . the 671 part is 6 cylinders 71 cubic inch per cylinder.

Well, there you have it, good to know I’m not even close to being the craziest boater out there. Plenty of examples out there to prove that. In a few months I’ll post my trial run results ( no pictures or videos). Again this would not be my sole source of propulsion. I’d fire up the girls when need...

Ok now on a serious note . While is sounds ok in theory its a NO. For one thing the stopping power is not going to be good . But your steeing is going to be really bad .
