Re: Cappy's f32 rehab

Rich - Just a hunch but your new engines may have come with sending units for VDO gauges and if your boat has original gauges, they are Delco.

Bob at Beacon can help you with sending units. Also, make sure you have the right configuration of single or dual station sending units.

Re: F32 Vibration Briefly in Reverse

If you have forward momentum, what your feeling is cavitation. IF you are sitting still, could be a few different things. (Alignment, tranny, shaft, wheel, bearing )

Re: Screen for F32 kick plate

If you are referring to the center lower windshield opening, I have never seen anyone screen that in.

I rarely opened mine, and would usually only use to blow the fly's out while at cruise.

Maybe someon has used it differently. good luck!

Re: Stickey cables

I made the tools to do this with reinforced pvc tube, valve stem, hose clamps and marvel mystery oil per the post from the forum. I put in 15psi pressure and it took about 4 hours to get oil out the other end. Worked well! hope you have same outcome

Re: Flybridge Core project

I am curious about the decision to use balsa. I realize it is stronger than many alternatives, but it seems a bit out of favor these days. I was sold on TriCel when I decided to take on this project. The fact that the weight of Tricel was less, chance of rot was less, high tech stuff! It was severa...

Re: Flybridge Core project

It was a fun learning process, but a bugger of a project. Resin was taking 2 and 3x as long to kick with the temps. Had to go a little heavy on the catalyst the first part of the week. The cut lines were ground and a mat layer glasses in to avoid print through. Plan is to sand then fair that, follow...

Re: Flybridge Core project

Finally spent the last week putting new core in the fly bridge. Decided on using Balsa after a few conversations with Bob, Thanks Bob!!! First pic is first 1" core layer going in. IMG_20190416_122426.jpg Then .125 Mat layer glassed in over that. Then additional 3/4" layer of balsa, which I...

Re: Auto Pilot

Jimmy, I like my Raymarine unit. I use it for the same purpose that you need. My system is old (2004) so my model and specifics will be different, but I have the 6001 tied into a course computer / black box, which feeds all the MFD's. I also have a remote on the back deck which is nice when you are ...

Re: Ladder to fly bridge

Paul - We completely scrapped the factory setup. At times we are running 21 lines and get 3-5 people shuffling around the back deck ( double, triple, quad hookups). This one is made from 1.5" thick wall stainless and welded stainless flange. gap height is 17.5 inches. The board was fashion from...

Re: Ladder to fly bridge

We also wanted to be able to clean fish on the boat, so made a table out of Starboard that slips on the back rail. Might be easier than trying to modify the ladder.

Re: 10 meter people load limit?

from the boats I have seen on Lake Minnetonka, it is at least 20 bikini clad young women.

I would keep it under 10 for any area that you need to deal with moderate or more sea conditions.

Re: Loud ticking/knock from starboard engine

I had it done. Pull install, bottom up rebuilds, tranny rebuilds and stringers was about 10K. Also repainted bilge while all was out.

My mechanic has an articulating arm on the loader, so did not need to remove glass. Not sure what the in/out charge would be where you are at.

Re: Loud ticking/knock from starboard engine

As long as your in there, you may want to just pull both motors and rebuild. Then you know what you have. I blew a head gasket 2 years ago on my 88 and pulled the motor for a rebuild. Looked at the inboard stringer and decided to fix the weep hole issue, so pulled the starboard motor also. Figured a...
