Sonar

Hey gang I was thinking about replacing my 40-year-old depth sounder, the display has become hard to read. I see that they have forward looking sonar transducers and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these. If not can you give me a recommendation on a good depth sounder for our 1979 ...

Re: Lithium House Bank Batteries

Thanks, the reason I asked is that I was told you can't charge two batteries off one alternator, because if only one battery is discharged and one full the alternator/voltage regulator is charging both and you need a split charging system. I thought there might be a similarity when the system was dr...

Re: Lithium House Bank Batteries

I'm probably missing it but what keeps the engine battery bank from being overcharged while the alternator is sending power to the rest of the system. Do you have to do anything special with the drive belts and pulleys with the extra load.

Thanks,
Rich

Re: Steering piston leaking

I removed the existing, leaking, Warner cylinder, although the Trojan mounting plate was substantial (3/8" thick steel angle) I was surprised to see the rear mounting on the cylinder ball was plastic, it was definitely the weakest link in the system. I opted for a new Seastar cylinder with the ...

Re: Steering piston leaking

Thanks, I will pull it off in the spring. We have a good hydraulics place. I wasn't sure if it had some kind of crimped ends.

Steering piston leaking

The steering piston on my 1979 tri cabin is leaking at the piston rod. Does anyone know if this unit can be rebuilt or is there a replacement available.

Thanks Rich

Re: 318 head gasket leak?

I only ask because last time I had and impeller breakapart, surprisingly, all the pieces were on the inlet of the raw water pump. The water must’ve stopped pumping and the pieces must have fallen by gravity down the hose.

Re: 318 head gasket leak?

Is there any history of a broken impeller parts that could be restricting the coolant flow?

Looks like a solid line from the battery to the inverter.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if the Shepherd plant closed in 1979

Where was my tri cabin made?

Hey Gang

Need some help, we were invited to an antique boat show and I would like to give some data about the boat. Is there a way of telling where the boat was manufactured? Few pics attached.

Thanks
