Re: Total Advance for Chrysler 440s

I decided last season at the same I did the distributor was add a gm hei module in place of the 4 pin Mopar unit. .045 gap on rn14yc plugs, msd blaster2 coil. That engine after the ignition upgrade just runs awesome. Fuel burn is good, runs at the thermostat. Had to go back to the stock 1409 setting...

Re: Total Advance for Chrysler 440s

Marineengine.com, there are a lot of Marinette owners that have Chryslers. Search fast Jeff, grab some popcorn, you'll be busy reading. These timing numbers were from a 440 service manual I found on that site

Re: Total Advance for Chrysler 440s

I used these numbers on my 318 after posting the same question, with what seems to be a mystery. I'm at 7deg initial, so 30 total all in at 3000 or so, I'm on step about 2300- 2500. You don't want full advance at that load. I was able to use springs from a Mr gasket hei kit. The prestolite replaceme...

Re: '80 F26 issue

There is 318 timing advance curve #'s buried in this forum??? The last missing Chrysler link to all my ignition woes. Could someone please post that curve and maybe Bob from beacon, could sticky that to the top of the home page. Oh wait a sec, he has a gm 305.

Re: 360 does not run at idle

On an edelbrock or Carter the idle circuit is in the primary Venturi, this will cause alot of weird idle problems, zoom in on the circle

Re: Chrysler 318, 360, 383, 400, 440 Distributor

Thanks for clearing that up Bob, I thought your part number crossed with the Sierra distributor, I'm glad to know this distributor will work with the thrust collar.

Re: Chrysler 318, 360, 383, 400, 440 Distributor

Thanks, I've been putting off a distributor upgrade here recently. There seems to be alot of info about problems with Chrysler marine distributor's and thrust collars and advance curves, etc, floating about the internet. Has any one installed one of these Sierra distributers on a RH engine with out ...

Re: Chrysler 318, 360, 383, 400, 440 Distributor

Hi Bob,
Would you happen to know if the distributor shaft on the Chrysler parts page distributor # TRJ4142738M is long enough to accommodate the collar on the reverse rotation engines?

Thanks, Randy

Re: Msd ignition

I figured out the problem midway last summer, I had a bad connection in the leads from the pick up in the distributor. It was a weird problem. Went in a few circles to get to the pick up. So the msd questions were less about throwing parts at a problem but seeing the advantage of running a CDI multi...

Re: Msd ignition

Typical GM 4 terminal HEI, the aluminum plate acts as the heat sink, the GM module requires a full 12v to fire, so would need a relay in the start circuit. AC Delco modules are about 40$. The Chrysler pick up will trigger the module. Any reason not too?

Re: Msd ignition

Thanks for the replies, I'm keeping the prestolite idh-7002 distributer, I have a reverse rotation 318, a replacement distributer apparently doesn't exist anymore, hurrikain has one, but appears to be a rebadged pertronix for ALOT. last season had some ignition gremlins. I feel an msd box with full ...
