Re: Emergency Start
As Todd stated above, both batteries are always connected by the starting relay regardless of which engine you are starting. The reason there is a switch on the dash is because when the battery normally connected to the engine you are starting is dead, it also doesn't have enough power to close the ...

Re: windlass
I had the Lewmar 1000 Freefall. The FF has a unique design that causes the rode to jam, and is difficult to unjam without a partial disassembly, so I replaced it after a three years with the power up/down model. Couple of years later, the new unit unit died because the case seam has no seal and the ...

Re: Removing Fuel Tank Sender 1990 F32
The sender is in the starboard side saddle tank, outboard of the starboard engine. Not only does the cabin sole panel above it not appear to be removable, but the a/c evaporator is sitting on that panel directly above the sender.

Removing Fuel Tank Sender 1990 F32
I have determined after some diagnostic testing that the fuel gauge sender on one of my saddle tanks is not working. Can anyone reassure me that the sender can be removed without moving the tank? I would really hate to have to pull the tank, which would involve (at least) removing the outboard manif...

Re: Repowering with 4.3L V6?
So cruise with the V6 will be 3820 rpms instead of 3200. Do you feel comfortable running the engine that hard?

Re: Tip 'o the day - emergency start switch
I believe your information is half right and half wrong. The relays do automatically kick in when you start an engine, so basically all starts are powered by the two starting batteries in parallel. When you start the port engine, the port battery closes the cross over relay, and vice versa for the s...

Re: How Does A Trojan Cross The Road???
I looked at the canal on Google maps. That has to be the most meandering canal route I've ever seen. The trip by canal must be several times longer than as the crow flies.

Re: F32 rudder anodes
Are the metal fittings on your boat bonded? If so, there may be no need to zinc your rudders unless a reference anode shows you are under-zinced.

I had a smaller issue with my bridge. In my case, water entered from the holes which held the apron screws. They had had elongated at the aft end from years of vibration and flexing, and allowed water to enter the core. I was able to inject epoxy and filler to resolve most of my problems. I sealed a...

After reading Ready 123's last response, I feel like I am missing something. The hole in the deck is smaller than the hatch, not larger. The hole has a raised lip around it that a foam seal sits against when the hatch is closed. The teak frame sits outside of this lip. It would be my impression that...
