I can help you with a specific question, as can many of us here on the Forum.

+1 on the dripless also, while your engine room is empty - lots of LED lighting Maybe an additional layer of sound insulation? point of information - the dash panel for a MECHANICAL diesel remains essentially the same, however I chose to add BOOST and PYROMETER gauges to best monitor engine performa...

Re: 10m mid cabin - power upgrade Crusader 8.1's

Hey Bob, Please confirm with Crusader the diameter of your raw water inlet system. They told me mine was going to be an issue...… seacocks & strainers for the 454 too small. This combined with the shaft issues & props were the factors pushing me into diesel land, as the difference was getting smalle...

Re: 10m mid cabin - power upgrade Crusader 8.1's

I was real serious about the 8.1's when I did my repower. At the time Crusader was offering them, NEW, with the gears, however, on the long shaft of the Express, the dealer recommended that I go to either a thicker shaft or replace the shafts with (?) aquamet 22's. (as I recall) The shafts should no...

So very sorry to hear your news.

But they say...

When one door closes, another opens up

Good example of exactly why most of us with older boats should CYA and have insurance with AN AGREED TO VALUE

Perhaps you'll consider an International?

Re: water flow

Is the water pump 2 or 4 hose ? Raw water pumps can run in either direction - just make sure the impellers are installed with vanes ‘squashed’ in the right direction for the expected rotation. To be clear Yes the pumps will run it either direction but flow will be reversed . As far as the Vane dire...

Re: 1981 6.5 onan generator

If you are going to replace it - it must come out. If your guy is going to repair it - as you said, it must come out. These units have become the albatross I was told they were taken out of production and due to several carbon monoxide deaths and the lawsuits that followed. Replacement parts were ma...
