Re: Chrysler 440 Carbs
If you wanted to keep the AFBs you could clean them off and watch for leaks. Mine had floats set wrong and acted similar they would also flood and stall my port engine. But if your buying new who cares the 1409 will work fine for what your doing.

Re: 1987 10 meter mid cabin complete restoration.
Noooo. do not use 250 grit. start with 2500 then work toward 1000. If 2500 does the job stick with it. If not step down to 2000 or 1500. And yes use wool on compounds and foam with finish polish and wax. Clean it in between uses.

Re: 1973 Stalling After Running
I had the same issue. I could be out all day and upon returning the port engine would die in the channel. The PO all ready replaced all the ignition parts. So it seemed fuel related. It was. I took the carb off to clean and rebuild. The floats were way off of spec. Problem solved. You have a holley ...

Jimbo, are you trying to get used engines? Look at older motorhomes. They can be had cheap then scrap the rest.

Re: Thinking Out Loud
Are you only looking for a express? If not there is a pretty decent looking F-32 sedan fly in Marblehead Ohio. I think they were asking $14000. Twin 318s

Re: 400 CID needed
You are correct. If you're having trouble finding 400s get ahold of muscle motors in Michigan. They have them in stock. They use the B block (400 & 383) to build strokers. They put a 440 crank in them to make a 451 in a lighter block that takes up a little less space.

You both are correct. I was misinformed on that. My apologies. There is a easy way to find out. Take the cap off and watch it.

Re: chrysler 400 distributor
The standard rotation engine firing order is 18436572. Number 1 is front opposite the distributor. With the cap off and coil wire removed. Tap the engine over till you are at top dead center on the compression stroke. You can take the #1 plug out and feel air pressure. When the marks on the harmonic...
