Re: Riser condition inspection

I am curious if you ever did a flush with Barnacle Buster or some other acid based flush of the raw water side. I have been doing that every year or two to avoid the corrosion build up that reduces water flow.

Re: F36 Windlass Problem

Interestingly, the windlass continues to work correctly, with no additional fiddling with it!

Re: ACT Paint color

PCA Premium (used to be PCA Premium Gold?) is on sale at West Marine for $169.99 with free shipping. I could not find a date when this price expires, but it is part of their spring prep event, so I am sure there is one.

Re: New F36 owner

Was the stringer delamination on the port side inner stringer at the transom? That seems to be the one that I have most often heard of and one that I need to fix on our boat.

Re: ACT Paint color

PCA Gold is $159.99 from March 23-April 4 at West Marine. We have been getting three years between haul outs in the mid Chesapeake Bay with spotty paint left after power washing. The marina guys keep asking what we are using because they are impressed with how well it is working.

Re: Air Conditioner

One thing to consider if you live in a cold area is that some units are available with resistive heat instead of reverse cycle. This let's you have heat even when the water temperature is below 45°F. Mermaid Air has this option on tier 12,000 BTU units.

Re: 13 Meter Project

How far do you have to go and how hilly is the route?

I towed a 10,000 lb car trailer with a F150 rated for 3,500 lb for a year before buying a F350. It wasn't fun, but it did work.

Re: Potable Water Tank Fitting

How about using a Uniseal fitting? I know Peggie Hall (aka the Head Mistress) recommends them for holding tanks.

If you don't already have the factory documentation, I would recommend getting it from Beacon Marine:

Our F-36 is also a 1975 model and I was surprised to find out the AC circuits are all wired with Romex solid core wiring. You might have the same thing on your boat.

We are replacing all that house type wiring with tinned stranded wiring. It should be a fun project!

Re: 440 gremlins

Your port engine is reverse rotation on a F-36 Convertible. Is there any chance something you did on the tune-up should be changed because you were thinking standard rotation? All that popping sounds like spark plug wires in the wrong place. Reverse rotation engine firing order is 12756348. Cylinder...

On the Chesapeake Bay, many folks know and respect the Trojan brand. There are still a fair number around here and some of them are in Bristol shape.

Re: 10 meter mid cabin fuel starve

Any chance that tank is baffled and the connection between the section with the pickup tube and the rest of the tank is clogged, leaving fuel in the tank but that section dry?
