Re: Project "Tri Fly"
Ok. Here it is storm season and I'd vowed to either have it running or gone by now but I guess I got lazy. Through the salon door would be great. Thanks for that detail.

Re: Project "Tri Fly"
Yes logs are later... There's a school of thought that you check and repair in the water. But i hate the fire drill feeling. Just undo lg nut w box wrench and repack. The seacocks are going to be easier with all gear out for you so hence the suggestion. The two discussions on this board are really g...

Re: Project "Tri Fly"
Barrie in the "due diligence" vein, it looks like you may have some of the older seacocks and thruhulls? I know you are fresh water up there but now is the time to inspect and correct. Stuffing boxes too.

Re: Project "Tri Fly"
He's doing more than fixing his own boat. He's lighting a fire under many of us! Thanks!

Re: Project "Tri Fly"
Years ago I met a gentleman in Coal Harbor (Vancouver),bc who had a model similar to ours. The interior was cluttered with built in furniture (the dinette) and it was ravaged by the Pacific Northwest monsoons but the engines ran well. He showed me pics of his cruises, crabbing and salmon slaying thr...

Re: Project "Tri Fly"
Really is a good refit in terms of techniques and quality. You'll find "purists" hard pressed to find fault with your work! Funny, but for example I'm considering ditching my rear cabin windows and keeping the rear cockpit windows! Kinda the opposite. The stripe change isn't to my taste, b...

Re: Sherwood G-7 Raw Water Pump
Heres an oldie but goodie: Lube, tighten (really) and let it sit out. Come back and torch it. Get ready to duck!

Re: River bottom place for Onan?
I already have the battery bank and was thinking of using a solar panel. By unreliable I mean at the use interval that I would need it, the maintenance is out of proportion to its utility. Drive to the boat and start it every month? And not use it? The word "Sysiphan" comes to mind. 1970s ...

Re: River bottom place for Onan?
These are valuable opinions. I think most folks here are looming for vintage liveaboArds however with maximum space. Ill take a stab at getting it running but am put off by how unreliable they are. As I say, it turns over :| And you are right, just because in all my years of cruising the salish sea ...

Re: River bottom place for Onan?
HAHA Yes, I get the genset Idea, and perhaps should try. But a running genny ruins my peace and quiet. I remember the first time on a remote BC ferry on a month bike-packing trip someone looked at my ten pound load and said OMG NO STOVE!! I eat a samwich, kick back and listen to the eagles. Many com...

River bottom place for Onan?
Hi All, I guess a schematic and sleepless nights are the way I'd traditionally solve this issue, but thought I would just ask to test the waters: I am thinking of divorcing my Onan. My trifly will be a short range lake cruiser and floating condo and I just dont see the need (ballast?) for a dated, f...

Re: WayWeGo Repairs and Improvements
Thanks guys. Sounds like a tank and two y valves give you all the options you need. This post was super helpful.
