It is a Holley 4B carb, is this something that can be repaired somewhat easily?

Just a thought. Is it worth it to change out the thermostat? I've only owned the boat 4 years, so I don't know the age. Could the engine be heating up in the creek/no wake zone after running?
I'm so desperate that I will change anything out if it's relatively inexpensive.
