Re: One Less Trojan

Nooo! Really sorry to hear about this. There's not enough of us 26er's on here as it is and it's a shame to lose one with such knowledge as yourself. What happened btw??? If you could message me your email or post it here that'd be great just in case I need to run some questions by you in the future...

Re: Trojan F26 Express question

When I bought my 1976 F26 I knew nothing about boats. Had never even piloted one in my life. I bought it in Long Beach, CA and had to move it to Marina del Rey, CA (Los Angeles) the next day because the slip lease was up. I did so, accidentally, during a small craft advisory warning. I had no idea t...

Re: Anyone had a Sideshift stern thruster installed?

My bottom paint easily has another season left on it according to the divers. Think I'm going to wait out this season and then knock out the paint and thruster in the same haul out after the summer. However, I am getting my taxes done tomorrow so if for some reason I have some unexpected cash flow I...

Re: 1977 F26 window arms

I'm thinking about doing something like this (down the line) to my F26 windows.

Automated windows would be amazing. Any interest in being the guinea pig?

Re: Anyone had a Sideshift stern thruster installed?

I was mistaken, the product is on their website, it's just under their outboard thruster product line. Looks like a good work around for us 26ers. What do you guys think? 'As mentioned, we have a great stern thruster solution for your shallow draft Trojan 26. Our ST230-OB stern thruster ( https://sh...

Re: Anyone had a Sideshift stern thruster installed?

Just got off the phone with Side-shift. Looks like the pontoon thruster is a no go. Forgot to even look at how long the damn thing was! The unit is 32" and he said the swim platform needs to be about 36" for a clean install. Mine measures a whopping 17" He did say that having the thru...

Re: Anyone had a Sideshift stern thruster installed?

Thanks for your input CaptManiac. I've been doing the maneuvering you've explained over the years. As Dog House mentioned though, there simply is no reversing to starboard on these babies. Dog House, I can't thank you enough for doing all the measurements, research and such. You've saved me a many t...

Re: Anyone had a Sideshift stern thruster installed?

This is where I get lost. Let's say you're puttin' around and your fixed stern thruster is in the water as it should be. When you increase speed enough you'll get on a plane. The bow of your boat goes up which causes the stern of your boat to go down. Wouldn't everyone's stern thruster be dragging w...

Re: Anyone had a Sideshift stern thruster installed?

Haven't thought about (or through) this, but maybe an electric trolling motor would work for you. Bow mount version, maybe, that would retract/fold up on the swim platform when not in use? Interesting, I was planning on investing in a motor like this as a back up if my single engine goes out to get...

Re: Anyone had a Sideshift stern thruster installed?

I looked into installing a stern thruster on my F26. The problem was the F26 has a really shallow draft. I was not able to install the stern thruster deep enough in the water so I didn't buy it. Before you purchase a stern thruster, make sure you can mount it deep enough in the water to be effectiv...

Anyone had a Sideshift stern thruster installed?

Tired of panicking due to the insane prop-walk on my F26. I can pretty much only backup one way. I've been handling her for 4+ years like this so I've paid my dues as a first time boater. A stern thruster will give me all the confidence in the world. Which is priceless to me at this point in my boat...

Re: Paul/Cruise Control

Paul and the Cruise Control were an enormous part of why I overhauled my F-26 from the stringers up. He showed me that the F-26 could be a beautiful customizable boat. Still to this day he had the cleanest bilge I've ever seen. He would always promptly reply back to questions and was an enormous hel...

Re: F26 Cockpit Windows

Can you post a picture of what you're talking about? I also was thinking about automatic window openers. Pulling a switch and having the windows go up and down would be so cool. I picture something that you find on an automatic trunk of a car. I haven't the slightest clue where to start though so I'...

Re: Front cabin window seals?

I may have had some of that rubber stuff the first go around of replacing the windows. Either way I sanded all that rubber/goo off down to the bare metal frame. After metal primer and paint, the windows will hold in place with silicone, caulking and gravity.
