Re: 12 Meter Express Rudder Angle Indicator

tcollins2, attached are a couple pictures I took last year. They may help you fabricate something if Beacon doesn't have the part available. It looks like it is just a 3" long piece of stainless round stock, cranked tight in a vise, bent to a 90* with an indent added to keep the spring on. If m...

Re: 12 Meter Express Rudder Angle Indicator

My 1990 Express also has the hose clamp. The end of the spring has an "L" shaped attachment that is clamped onto the tie bar and can be moved on the bar to adjust the rudder angle indicator. Ex: if your indicator is showing port 10 while u/w and straight, you can loosen the hose clamp and ...

Re: 13 Meter 6-71TI Sea Trial Results - Interpretation (major rebuild looming?)

I'd give Bob a call with your hull number and see if they have the original seatrial. Do this today to give enough (John) Leed time. Expect to pay something but you don't need the whole owner's manual. That way you have a starting point of specs of when the boat was new. Phototach is a good purchase...

Good job with the repair! At least it was the port side.

Re: One Less Trojan

Sorry to hear... It's always sad to have something of such sentimental value disappear, especially when it's unforeseen. Good Luck with insurance and a newer boat!

Re: need help - a/c in 12 meter aft cabin

I'd see if your marina office has a vendor list for Air Conditioner guys and contact one of them. They might/should know where to look for the compressor if no else chimes in. When you do find it take a picture of the spec plate (has the type of refrigerant and the amount in addition to some other s...

Didn't need the speed log input so I replaced it with a Sandpiper model that just shows depth. One thing I noticed was that t...

Re: trim tab question

Make sure your Trim Tab circuit breaker is on and look at the volt gauges(s) when you move the Tab button - you should see some voltage drop. I seldom use mine and half the time forget the breaker is off!

Re: '89' trojan 12 meter express international questions

tcollins2 has the right idea for the Subzero. Had the compressor in mine rebuilt and it was around $800. So... if the freezer side of yours gets below 20-ish and the refrigerator side keeps things cold then I'd sink money into other things. My 1990 12M has a replacement main cabin AC unit (Taylor Ma...

Larry Warner - Crossing the Bar

I have some sad news for the Trojan community. Long-time Trojan employee and personal friend, Larry Warner, passed away Tuesday evening. His wife, Dawn, is holding up well but please remember her and Larry's family in your thoughts and prayers. Larry1.jpg Larry and former Trojan president Charlie Un...

Re: 14 Meter Trojan

Mrphilinma, Make sure you have a good survey. 14M's are built solid and Trojan did a wonderful job glassing the balsa-core. But... look for any owner-drilled holes, make sure the A/C units work and the Sub-Zero's do their thing, put a full load on the generator, take it out for cruise and make sure ...

Re: May 2017 Upper Bay Rendezvuex

Thanks prowlersfish! John said that the Trojan design team took great pride in making sure engine swaps could be accommodated without cutting fiberglass. 671 Eng Removal (2)-1.jpg I jokingly asked him if that meant sometimes lifting the engine vertically... A serious "Yes" was the reply. 6...

May 2017 Upper Bay Rendezvuex

Hello Everyone! It's been a busy autumn yanking out the stbd 6-71 for its rebuild but she should be ready to go by mid-spring. 6-71 Engine Removal .png 671 Eng Removal (22).JPG 671 Eng Removal (24).JPG I'm probably doing a shake-down cruise to Higgins in St. Michaels the beginning of May and going t...
