Re: Our 1987 Trojan F36 Tri-Cabin - Before and After

Lovely upgrades! I did the bathroom faucets as well. Getting a higher sink faucet is now on my short list!

Heavy Duty Cleats

Cleat Question! (Venting/story below.) Looking to replace the single bolt per post 10” heavy duty stainless cleats that came with my 36’ Trojan Tri-Cabin. All I can find online is the 4 bolt “open faced foot” cleats. Storytime! So some marine service guy that my dockmaster recommended said he’d come...

Re: Raw water pump for cruisair reverse-cycle system

The pumps are overload protected so I think it just reached its end of life, or you blew the bracket o-ring, or the bracket wasn't fully secured and water got in. I suspect you'd have to be sitting in the mud to ingest enough of it to cause a cooling problem though. This was exactly what happened, ...

Re: Raw water pump for cruisair reverse-cycle system

Or… Now that I'm reading back my own description of what has happened, maybe the overload protection did kick in, and the motor not operating and just making a soft 'MRRRRR' wasn't it seizing, but rather it being tripped...

Re: Raw water pump for cruisair reverse-cycle system

Ignition protection- aha!! I knew I was forgetting something. Guess we'll see what March says when Monday rolls around. It's a $300 pump at the end of the day but I'm curious as to why the Overload protection didn't kick in. When I pulled the pump out of the engine compartment about an hour after it...

Re: Raw water pump for cruisair reverse-cycle system

On first digging through, I found this guy from the same company. The water flow and HP is a little higher than the old pump (10 Gpm @ 1/15 HP vs 8.5 Gpm @ 1/20 HP) so an inline variable restrictor probably wouldn't be untoward. http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?sku=94021&gclid=CjwKEAjw...

Raw water pump for cruisair reverse-cycle system

So the summer marina i'm in advertised dredged slips, but apparently their definition of "dredged" is vastly different from mine. Needless to say, my raw water pump for the intake on my Cruisair AC system has now overheated and seized. Now, being a former marine electrician, I was of the o...

I'm looking to redo all my canvas and add a radar arch. Do you happen to know how your boat got her arch?

Re: Zinc topic!

Awesome, thanks! Also, slightly related note, where does one fill the coolant on these puppies? Some genius decided the floor beams for the engine room should go right over the heat exchanger cap. I have a hard time believing that the previous owner just "winged it" with filling it there b...

Zinc topic!

So I have all the manuals for my boat (courtesy o all you fine folk,) but for the life of me I can't find any documentation on the heat exchanger other than its part number. I'm trying to replace the zinc anode and unfortunately, the old one was so far gone it practically shattered when I screwed it...

Bimini bother

NYC + blizzard = sad and torn Bimini. I'm thinking of building a new hardtop for the sunbridge on my 36' trojan tri-cabin, but would also love a new blue Bimini top (current o e is over 30 years old and vinyl windows are way past their prime. Do I have to retrofit a whole new Bimini enclosure to the...

Re: Starter/Solenoid One click

ignition switch or ignition coil?

To clarify, my console doesn't have a key, it's a 3-position switch. The only thing that prevents my boat from starting are the switches at my breaker panel and turning the switches on the console to the 'OFF' position

It kindof slowly ran down and died. When trying to start again it wouldn't turn over anymore.

Re: Starter/Solenoid One click

OKAY - BIG PROGRESS TODAY :D So I installed the new solenoid, cleaned pretty much EVERY electrical contact I could find and added dielectric grease to protect my handiwork, and replaced all the spark plugs on the engine. (before I installed the new plugs I happily ran the engine to see if any hydrol...

Re: Starter/Solenoid One click

You do not need to turn it in the correct direction, you are just trying to determine if the engine is seized up or not. If it will turn in either direction check for a bad starter. Thanks! Was afraid that turning it the other direction might have implications but that makes sense. Since the V-driv...
