Re: A PNW Trojan!! ??

Sadly had to let this one go :( Hatchs over the engines were both soft and one weighed about 3 times as much as the other indicating it is totally water logged. Fore deck "tapped out" solid but bridge deck was soft and springy with spider web cracks throughout. Manifolds, risers, and heat ex...

Re: A PNW Trojan!! ??

Nice looking F28! On mine there is a tag on top of the intake manifolds that gives the engine model, size, serial numbers, etc. Mine has two 318's, 225 HP ea. The two tanks you see in the engine compartment are freshwater tanks, the fuel tanks are located in the mid bilge area, just forward the eng...

Re: A PNW Trojan!! ??

Servicing the outside of those engines (plugs, starboard oil filter change, port water pump impeller) will be a bugger with how close those fuel tanks are. OOps... on second glance, looks like v-drive setup, so flip that (port oil filter, and stbd impeller). Ripples in the v-berth hull liner (pics ...

Re: A PNW Trojan!! ??

Yeah, prowler, everything below decks is going to need a thorough inspection and a survey for sure. I saw those risers and elbows and thought somebody took a wire brush and cleaned up rust and scale to make them "pretty" for the pictures. Due to the impression I get from the pics and the l...

A PNW Trojan!! ??

Still searching for a Trojan to call my own. Pretty slim pickin's out this way. This F-28 just showed up. Take a look and tell me what you think before I schedule a drive down to look at her. My first impressions from the pics: exterior is decent, interior looks very nice, bilge and engine room need...

Re: ? Raw Water Cooling in the Salt ?

Well, I thought I had found a solution. I was working a deal for an F-26 with the Mercruiser Chevy. Fresh water conversion kits are readily available for those. Unfortunately real bids for shipping came in about 30% higher than Uship's "free estimate". So I had to back out of the deal. :cr...

Re: Looking at an F25

Kicker rig here as well, on mine anyway (slow trolling for lakers): I was looking at a Tollycraft some time ago (Maryland) that was a donation sale -- passed on it, and felt a little sorry I did. I had seem them in Seattle in my Dawg days, and like the layouts. Just for grins, found a 26' at Shilsh...

Re: ? Raw Water Cooling in the Salt ?

Depending on your flushing routine, you can easily get 30 years out of a block. Expect to replace your manifolds every five to ten years depending on your use. When they start getting clogged up, you can clean them once or twice, then expect replacement. Buy quality manifolds and risers. They last ...

? Raw Water Cooling in the Salt ?

I hope I'm not being too much of a pain with all my questions. Still on the search for an F-25/26. I'm seeing some very nice lake boats. Are there any folks here who run a raw water system in the salt? What do you do as a flushing routine? If I am anal about flushing (no pun intended ) what kind of ...

That sounds about right for a hardtop going by what is on the sheet for forward freeboard. Should be close enough to get ballpark shipping estimates.

J25/26 Dimensions/Specifications ?

I am expanding my search area for a 25' or 26' Trojan. Way back around page 150 of the forum I found a spec sheet for 1979 Trojans. The sheet lists LOA, beam, approx weight, etc.. Does not list overall height from keel to top of hardtop. Movers want that dimension for estimate. Does anybody have tha...

Re: Looking at an F25

The old "built like a tank" boats do command a premium price around here. I'm planning on selling my 1990 17' Arima to pay for a J25/26 with enough leftover to cover any repairs and outfitting to get it on the water. Glasplys were built just down the road from me and you still see those ol...

Re: Looking at an F25

She showed up on Craigslist this AM for $3800.  Looks like the flipper threw some kind of finish on the deck, took some pics, and posted the listing.

Re: Looking at an F25

I'm sure you guys are right that the deck would not have been as overwhelming as I thought. In fact I have been kickin' myself in the butt for the past two days for chickenin' out. Getting much too timid in my old age I guess  .

Oh well, the search goes on.

Craigslist '74 F25 Wood Topsides ??

If this really is a '74 Trojan would the deck and cabin construction have been factory or was this likely crafted by an owner? Top sides non withstanding the hull lines don't seem quite right? Then again I've only been looking at Trojans for a couple of weeks so what the heck do I know? Craigs List ...
