Re: Anyone put wood paneling on their ceilings

I have not, but I plan too. Mine has wood slats that I plan to screw and glue to.

Charging System

On my 79' F-28 with two Chrysler Marine 318's I am having a charging system issue. I had a battery go down and I checked with my volt meter to see if the alternator was putting out and it was not. So I replaced it and still not charging. I suspected the voltage regulator next so I switched it with t...

Re: F28 Salon Wall

The Bamboo should hold up pretty well. I'm in a covered slip so it is not exposed to the sun except when we are out on the lake and it won't get more than the occasional splash from time to time so I think the varnish will protect it well enough from water. I will go easy on it when I wash the boat ...

F28 Salon Wall

A previous owner must have done some work and failed to re-install one of the bolts attaching the top of the rear wall to the flybridge deck. The missing bolt is hard to get too as it is partially behind the flybridge surround in the corner of the wall. This allowed any water from rain or simply was...

Re: 1978 f28 V Berth

I know this is an old post but here is a picture of mine. The carpet is glued to the wall, I'm planning to replace it but I haven't decided if I want to go back with carpet, wood, tuck n roll, or something else.

Re: Swim Deck Project

Thanks Oil&Water I think it turned out good. I'm working on the wood transom ladder and will add it this weekend. Then I'll start the back wall of the cabin, door, window trim and other wood items.

Re: molded hose source for chrysler 360

Any pics available yet? It sounds like you may have a freshwater cooling system, if so it may be aftermarket and you may be able to find a make and model number somewhere on it.

Nice Job! I've had those wet sanding sore arms before. Very satisfying when you get finished though.

Re: Swim Deck Project

Thanks Jimmy, I hope it last too. I have a covered slip so it will not be exposed to the sun except when we are out using the boat and I plan to watch it pretty close and re-apply at least once a year.

Swim Deck Project

I recently completed my swim deck project and wanted to share a few pics. I made a jig from 3/4" plywood to shape the deck to the curve of my transom. Then I clamped the 3/4"x2" red oak strips in place dry to number and mark the center line and cut outs. Then I took it apart and made ...

Re: Zinc Anodes

comodave, thanks for your reply. I need to dig a little deeper and learn more about the bonding system, if any on my boat. Running the wire from bolt to bolt on the inside sounds like a great idea.

Zinc Anodes

I am replacing my old swim deck brackets with stainless steel brackets. I wonder if I should add anodes to these, or if they do not need it because they are stainless steel.

Re: 360 does not run at idle

It sounds like an old fuel issue. Assuming it's carbureted it may be a gummed up idle jet, a good dose of seafoam will probably clean it out.

Re: 1977 F30 318 cuts off under load

Check your fuel filter. You may have enough flow to idle, or run at low RPMs but it may be starving for fuel under power. When I first purchased my 79 F28 with twin 318's my port side motor picked up some trash from the tank and it would barely run 2500-3000 RPM. I replaced the fuel filter and insta...

Re: 1979 F28 Wood Interior

Big D, I suspected a lot of this was mahogany by the grain, it's pretty coarse. I'll find an area out of sight and try a spot with Murphy's and another with Cetol and compare the results. Thanks for your input.
