Re: Trojan F26

I’ve owned a 1977 F26 HT (Hardtop) since 1999. The boat passed through 2-3 owners before me and it’s been on the same lake since new. It has the 318 and it gets up on plane using the levelers that came with it. WOT is 4200 RPM and it cruised comfortably at 3000 RPM at about 18-20 mph. My wife and I ...

Re: Deck repair option Injectadeck

Looking good. I’ve repaired sections of the bow deck by removing the top fg layer with a vibrating saw, replaced the punky balsa core with like material, epoxy coat the balsa, overcoat the balsa and replace the deck section, saving the nonskid pattern. Ran a thin bead of West epoxy in the saw lines,...

Thanks for the thoughts. Looks like the Forum just got hijacked by some junk marketers. Good luck, Bob.

Whiny old boat

I’ve owned this 1977 F26 Hardtop since 1999 and have spent many an hour and dollar getting her into 21st century shape. Love the boat! BUT….at low speed in forward (1100-1200 RPM) she makes a whiny, ringing noise that’s noticeable from the prop shaft (I think). I did have shaft and rudder work done ...

Re: F26 Strut casting number

I lost my rudder this year. I ordered a new unit (stock and rudder) from Bob at Beacon Marine. Rudder number is 13-162. I have a 1977 F26 and this was the exact replacement. Beacon’s price was better than another source out of FL. I hope that helps.

Re: “Whiny” Prop Shaft

Thanks for your advice. I’ll get things looked at either before haul out this year or after haul out next year. Methinks it’s a strut issue but I’ll check the stuffing box nut. Right now, with no rudder, the boat’s not going anywhere….or maybe just in circles in reverse (prop walk to port). FUN TIME...

“Whiny” Prop Shaft

Aside from my recent tale of woe about the missing rudder, when I had work done on the prop and rudder stock in 2019 (after I finally found “that rock” after 40+ years on the same lake) I started noticing a “whine” or harmonic ringing from the prop shaft at around 1400-1600 rpm in forward. Thinking ...

Re: Looking for help with my 1980 f30 flybridge

Agree. Call Bob at Beacon Marine. He helped me out getting a new rudder to replace the one “fixed” a couple of years ago, then then decided to abandon ship just after I left the dock. There’s a ton of good information and parts available just a phone call and/or email away. Congrats on the new boat....

Re: F26 Rudder Fell off stock!

Bob came through. Very helpful and a new rudder & stock are coming my way in a month or so. In the meantime, we’ll use the boat as our “summer camp” and watch the grandkids try to kill themselves doing flips and crazy dives off the transom. Bob also told me that anyone who can handle a single sc...

Re: F26 Rudder Fell off stock!

Yes, the shaft was straighted and work also done on the prop after I found “that rock” after 44 years on the same lake. Picture is from when the rudder and stock were removed before repairs. I think the rudder came off at the coupling and now is “somewhere” on the bottom of the lake. FUN! I’ll reach...

F26 Rudder Fell off stock!

Lost steering today. Got back using reverse (prop walk to port) and bumping forwards and reverse. Not pretty but it worked. Any ideas why it fell off?

Re: Cabin headliner F26 HT

Thanks guys! I’m liking the idea of removing the existing headliner and the metal strips that run across the cabin top. That gives me another 3-4 inches of headroom. Was thinking I could mount flexible panels (like paneling) to the fiberglass cabin top with wood strips covering the joints. I could m...

Cabin headliner F26 HT

After all these years of looking at the nasty, droopy vinyl headliner in the cabin of the trusty Blue Heron I’ve been thinking of ripping out the whole shooting match and replacing it with something more “nautical”. Of course, I’ll have to accommodate interior lighting and wiring but I think that ca...

Re: 89 mid cabin battery wiring

I’m not sure what that statement means, also. Suggest you give Bob a call. Before I converted my 2 house bank FLA batteries over to Lithium (Battle Born) I used 3 Everstart MAXX group 29s from Walmart for years and had no problems, other than replacing them every 3-5 years. Each one was 100 deep cyc...

Re: 1983 f 26 cruiser head

I have a 77 F26 so mine may have a different set up. On mine, there are two switches in the head, on the wall where the shower should be. One is fresh water pump and one is shower drain. The water from the shower flows through a channel in the floor and out to the pump and a thru hull on the starboa...
