Re: Twin engine, dual battery hookup on F 36

Good morning Captain, thanks for your answer. I'm leaning toward keeping it simple, & leaving mine setup as I mentioned. Years back I had a 1967 36' Trojan, with the emergency start system setup, but don't honestly remember ever using it. As for the alternator/charging issue, I will use a meter to c...

Twin engine, dual battery hookup on F 36

Hi there all you Trojan guys, & gals. It's been a while, but since chatting I have finished the valve jobs on both 440's, they're running well. Today's issue is that I don't understand how the solenoid & cables should be connected to have the starboard battery used as the start battery, & the port b...

Re: overheating 440.

Good morning everyone, I sent a couple of messages lately, but not sure where they went! Anyway, the inspection of the double pocket water pump netted a near miracle!! When i had rebuilt both pumps before launch this spring, I inadverntly installed 2 of the small impellers, rather than the larger on...

Re: overheating 440.

Hi everybody, Please don't yell at me, you may want to laugh, or guffaw though. Long story short, with nothing else to try to solve this overheating problem, I pulled the pump off again. Remember, I rebuilt both pumps before launch in June, so thought they were fine. well, when I opened it up, I was...

Re: overheating 440.

Prowlerfish, Waywe go, & others who have been helping me with this heating problem. First for being there a big thank you, as you probably know, it gets a little lonely o there when you have problems that just drive you crazy, & its great to communicate with guys of like interest anyway. And now for...

Re: overheating 440.

Good morning Prowlerfish, this trip south was 2004, but as I recall we went in off the Bay & hung an immediate left to take us south past what I think may have been condos, seems like at the end of that stretch was the marina. I recall having dinner at the little restaurant there, on the 2nd story o...

Re: overheating 440.

Hey guys, I just noticed where y'all are from, my son was living in Williamsburg up until recently, now up at Gloucester Courthouse. I took another boat south in 2004, stayed at a neat marina in Hampton. Just a little background info. Have a good day.

Re: overheating 440.

Prowlerfish & waytogo, thanks for hanging in with me. This morning, I went back to the scene of the crime. I decided last night to use 2 garden hoses from the dockside water & connect each one to the discharge hoses from the pump, therefore, obviously, eliminating the pump. Now of course the city wa...

Re: overheating 440.

Hi there way we go, great info, your theory makes sense, basically what i've been thinking also. Today didn't go so well though. I decided to check the wye fitting upstream of the seacock, since I never had eyes on that piece, except the outside. I removed it, & it had a fair amount of roughness ins...

Re: water flow

Oh yes, I did replace both the impellers, & I agree that there is no circulating pump as we know it on the engine. Just a note though, I was reading/studying the cooling section of the manual & noticed they were talking about a circulating pump in the raw water cooling section. That threw me, but th...

Re: water flow

Sorry, Prowlerfish, missed your question about the pump. Yes, it is the dual lmpeller, 4 hose pump, & I do have the intakes on the bottom, & discharge on the top. Thanks for the interest.

Re: overheating 440.

Good morning Way we go. thanks for the reply. L do have a heat gun I've been using. For a system that seems so simple, it sure is making me crazy. I t seems the heads, manifolds, & risers stay cool. But, the hose that runs under the engine seems like it's boiling after a while of running. Today, I p...

overheating 440.

Hi there folks again. Unfortunately, i haven't resolved my engine overheating problem. I've done about everything i can think of to resolve it, to little or no success. I'm just about ready to remove a couple of soft plugs from the block for a look inside. I used the 'Barnacle Buster" in it, but cou...

Re: water flow

Hi everyone, well, today was a sort of a research day. I checked with my engine shop to ask about boiling some engine pieces, they don't boil, they bake them with high heat in an oven like a kiln. Next, they are bead blasted to clean them up. Then I went to the boat & took the ends off 1 manifold, w...
