Re: F36 mechanical steering adjustment

Prowlerfish, was at boat today, & really gave the steering a thorough search. It's much like i thought, the lower helm is simply a sprocket with chain that goes to the main fore & aft shaft in the bilge. Aft of the forward engine room bulkhead, is a drum with cable wound on it. That same cab...

Re: F36 mechanical steering adjustment

Good morning Prowlerfish, I'm surprised, I thought maybe you'd have my answer. Judging from the lack of response, apparently either not many Trojans are set up like mine, or nobody needs to adjust them. I built a bridge on a 36' Sea Voyager years back, but all i had to do there was tie the upper hel...

Re: F36 mechanical steering adjustment

Well, hi there again. Today i searched thru the boat again, & i think I may have found the cable adjustment. Forward of the starboard engine, there is a drum/sprocket. It looks like the lower helm chain drive must have another sprocket forward of the engine room bulkhead, on the horizontal shaft...

F36 mechanical steering adjustment

Hi there everyone. I have a 1972 F36 which has some slack in the cables at the drum at the flybridge helm. I've looked at the steering system as much as i can see, but don't find anything for adjusting the slop out of it. I have seen similar systems, think on an early Chris Craft, that incorporated ...

Re: Removing Splash Rails from a F-36

Hi there, Just a few comments about the F36 spray rails. I'm in the process of rebuilding the port side aft deck supports & framing, which i have completely removed, & am ready to start replacing all that. It seems i had just noticed your forum entry, & was interested, because my rails a...

Onan generator-Free

Hey guys & gals, just letting you know i still have a very reasonable Onan generator available!!!! It's FREE!! It is off my 1972 Trojan, it is complete, with aqua muff, mounting pan, etc. I can't attest to it's condition except that it is complete, has clean oil, & will turn by hand. I pulle...

Re: F36 stringer repair

Hi all, well, it's been a while, but the stringer repair was a success. all in & buttoned up. I did cut the center side of the old stringer fiberglas off about an inch from the botom, the fabricated the new stringer pieces in place. The layup went very well,& also reinstalled the fiberglas s...

Re: F36 stringer repair

Hi there Big D. Just noticed your reply to my stringer issue. Thanks for the info. I like your idea of cutting away the one side, why didn't i think of that?Another thought i had in the night, was, why couldnt i just lay roving in strips into the 2 sided channel I have now, wet out with resin, &...

F36 stringer repair

Good morning all. I'm about ready to start installing the new stringer, which will be laminated out of plywood, & epoxied in as it's installed. I have cut the Fiberglass top off the original stringer, leaving the sides in place, so I have a channel to fill with the new stringer, along with epoxy...

Re: Onan generator-Free

Hi there, oh, I dont blame you. Thats exactly why im not pursuing it. Its's one thing to get the engine running, but then does it actually make power. I know there's quite a bit to that control, & all that. Have a good one.

Re: F36 stringer repair

Hi Prowlerfish, thanks for the reply, your advice on the engine mount is about what i was thinking, so good on that. the issue on the other piece i mentioned, was about 2 1/2" square, with a 90 degree radius made on it. if you've seen some of the joinery where they make a joint `with 2 of these...
