Replacing Frost Plugs

The marine service guys "cannot proceed with any more work" for summerizing my engines because a frost plug is rusted on the starboard engine. I don't know why they can't just charge me for the replacement and continue but that's besides the point of this post  I did find this thread...

Re: Tracing Leaks

Update:

The starboard wall fared much better this week after re-caulking and cleaning the window frame and channel. :D

The port side above the galley is still an issue, albeit a slower one. So my search continues here.

Hoping the weather clears next week so I can get the deck work started.

Re: Tracing Leaks

Appreciate the tips! I've cleaned all the tracks (which were far more disgusting than I originally anticipated  ) and peeled back and re-applied the caulking along the entire frame. It's storming like mad here today so it'll be a good test :D Boppy - I wondered about that! There is a small le...

Re: Upgrade to my F-32 galley

I have been wondering what to do with the galley. I just did the laminate and it's already miles ahead of where it was. I like the extended shelf and lighting. Might be stealing some ideas from you :!:

Tracing Leaks

It's the rainy season and I've made it my mission this year to stop the leaks. Or at least the worst of them  I have a few obvious places to begin - properly fitting the flybridge panels in, re-caulking all the window trim, re-finishing the teak and caulking around the hatches, replacing the j...

Yes, it is... is that bad? Should I be moving that? Surveyor didn't bat an eye at it :(

It's about 8 inches from the starboard engine.

Re: 1975 F32 Trojan Endless Love <3

The box is siliconed in tight. I'll have to bribe some muscle to get at it. IMG_20190801_183026.jpg IMG_20190801_183501.jpg I may have been mistaken/misinformed about the AC meeting up in here. Seems the two hoses I was following don't actually connect behind the stairs. IMG_20190801_185256.jpg IMG_...

Re: 1975 F32 Trojan Endless Love <3

Your Taft rails look like they have been neglected for about 20 years. Mine were not quite that bad. Tried the restoration products recommended. They did nothing. What's gonna work is (60 grit, 100 grit 150 grit then 220). Followed by several coats of CETAL as I mentioned previously. The layers of ...

Re: 1975 F32 Trojan Endless Love <3

That is were a engine room vent/blower should be . Its much larger so it likely still has that behind it and maybe a added vent for something else ? It would be interesting to see what's there . I tried to look in to this yesterday but it ended up being built in to a box, in the storage walls in th...

I have started cleaning up the rails and I'm now very aware of how I have no idea what colour teak actually is
It's not grey!

Re: 1975 F32 Trojan Endless Love <3

Welcome aboard and congrats. I'm almost a year into refitting a 1976 Trojan f-32. Pretty much the same boat you have. I can tell from the water stains in the salon, starboard side that you need to remove the gutter, fix all the cracks behind it. This is the seam from the factory that joins the flyb...

Re: 1975 F32 Trojan Endless Love <3

Thank you, Away and captainmaniac! Yes, your PB link still works - the Goldspar (or now Compass), and the Cetol Light is about the range I'm hoping to achieve. There is bits of varnish still clinging to the railings at this time; my surveyor was none too impressed and told me in no uncertain terms N...

Re: 1975 F32 Trojan Endless Love <3

Congrats on the F32 , glad you got a survey As am I  I figure it's my "house" and a "home inspection" has saved my butt before, so if for nothing but my sanity, I was hellbent on a survey. Welcome aboard! My is a 75 F32 as well. I live on mine all summer on Lake Simcoe ...
