I painted mine with a high quality enamel paint and it's working fine. Looks a lot better then it did plus added a little color.

Here is a picture of the upper helm all redone in mahogany with birch overlay and new gauges. The galley is just about done also, 2 burner electric cooktop, micro underneath, new counters and teak veneer over the plexiglass doors.
