Re: 1988 10 Meter-mid cabin, Need new propellers!

Well fellas, I have some "partial" results! I say partial results as I encountered a STBD engine overheating scenario while on my way back to homeport from the yards. However, these are the facts I have from the partial test; 4200/4250 RPM at 24.7 "knots" (as provided via Raymari...

1988 10 Meter-mid cabin Rudder Bushings

Just finished a small project and wanted to share my idea and results. Like a lot of these older girls, the original upper rudder bushings wear out and the tiller arms start to wear into the fiberglass rudder pockets. I ordered a couple replacement bearings from Bob at the Beacon, but due to the sev...

Re: 1988 10 Meter-mid cabin, Need new propellers!

I'll definitely report back on the improvements/changes once done. My decision to stay with three blades vs four came after having it explained and now understanding more of the dynamics and characteristics of a couple of types of propellers...my old original" Dyna Jet" and my new "Ac...

Re: 1988 10 Meter-mid cabin, Need new propellers!

Yes, the engineer at Acme, based on my numbers (3900 rpm at 19 knots, tabs all the way down, boat length, beam, weight, etc...etc..) recommended going up to a 17 inch and down to a 14 pitch with a .030 cup. They are really interested in getting my numbers up around 42-4300 rpm and about 25 knots. Th...

Re: 1988 10 Meter-mid cabin, Need new propellers!

Update: after an hour of discussion with one of the Acme propeller engineers, going back and forth with numbers, we’ve decided on the following Acme propellers:

Re: 89 mid cabin water level gauge

RR, I drilled a hole and installed an access cover in mine a couple years ago for cleaning and inspection purposes. I have considered putting in a level indicator, but haven't done so yet. I will tell you this, if it's one thing Trojan didn't skimp on was the material in building a water tank. I mea...

1988 10 Meter-mid cabin, Need new propellers!

Hello folks,
Looking for a set or a good resource for a set of 16 x 17 x 1.250 Max cup 3B propellers. If anyone knows of any, I would appreciate any info. Mine are getting to that point in life.

Many thanks!

Just a follow-up on what I decided to do regarding the spacer. Seemed easy enough, I just needed to think about it some.

Re: 1988 10M-mid cabin battery sizes

I posted this on the FB forum, but haven’t received any response to date. As I mentioned in my original post, I’m refreshing the battery box and grounding bus. I’ve ran across a question for some of you regarding the securing of the battery box to the planks between the engines. The PO had just scre...

Re: 1988 10M-mid cabin battery sizes

Re: 1988 10M-mid cabin battery sizes

RR, Not to get off topic, (well, it's my topic so I guess I can stray from it) but I noticed you have a properly "molded" water hose coming from the circulating pump to the heat exchanger on the port engine, do you mind sending me the part number for it? I've been searching without confirm...

Re: 1988 10M-mid cabin battery sizes

not sure if this is of any help I can stand on it no problem battery hold downs are part of the cover rr, Now that's a different way to do it! Is that a diamond plate screwed/glued to the top of the original cover? What about the piece of plate that seems to be along the bottom, what does that serv...

Re: 1988 10M-mid cabin battery sizes

On the "crushing" comment. I added plywood strips running front to back (epoxied and screwed to the factory cover). I positioned them so they squarely line up on the tops of the batteries and avoid crushing the cables. BobCT, would like to see a couple of pics of that cover you modified w...

Re: 1988 10M-mid cabin battery sizes

BobCT Sorry to sidestep Scott67 rr No worries Bob, I'm learning a lot from this. As I mentioned, I'm reconfiguring my battery compartment too. Although I do have my generator, I feel the space down there can be better utilized and also allow for a step to get into the ER without crushing the batter...

Re: 1988 10M-mid cabin battery sizes

Starting Batteries should be group 27 and generator is 24. The box was molded for two 27s and one 24 As a general rule 27s have more power than the 24. I am not sure if the 31 would fit. Mrrudley did you have to modify the box for 31s? Prowlersfish, Does that battery box criteria also apply to a mi...
