Re: Just my 1973 F322 cruising, 27 mph, how fast is yours?

max= 24 knots/ 27 mph

Cruise - 20 knots / 23 mph (all day long)

Twin 200 HP diesels - Fully loaded - clean bottom

I've seen 25 knots clean and light, and after a seasons worth of growth- I can be down to 18 knots cruise/ 22 knots max.

Re: Volvo TMD 41's in an F32?

I have no affiliation and no interest in it but- boatdiesel is a great site and resource for what your contemplating. If memory serves, and just for reference, I recall seeing a few ads that may be of interest in your research. One was for freshly rebuilt tamd41's with warranty for around $10k and.....

Re: Volvo TMD 41's in an F32?

I posted my fast cruise a few posts back but again- it depends on how much you want to push your engines. These engines are 10 gph @ WOT (3800 RPM). To be safe, I propped them to do 3850-3900 RPM @ WOT meaning, they are lightly loaded and the prop demand curve is below Volvo's max. I've attended a f...

Re: Volvo TMD 41's in an F32?

These are my exact engines. Mine even had the Volvo gears but I sold them and bought brand new ZF gears. These aren't super charged, only trubo charged and aftercooled. These are one of Volvo's all time best engines IMHO. Price seems a bit steep to me for the vintage and power, I'd want to be closer...

Re: Volvo TMD 41's in an F32?

That's a good find and if the price is right, it may be the perfect package for what your looking for. The MS4B gears aren't horrible if they're in good shape... but if the clutch cones are suspect, you'd be better off selling them and buying newer ZF gears than fixing the volvo units. (good used MS...

Re: Volvo TMD 41's in an F32?

Hi guys, yes- I have volvos in my F32. Mine are 200 HP each (TAMD41-B) and IMHO, that's about the lowest power you'd want in that boat. The TMD41's are only 150hp and a bit underpowered. Volvo in general have a mixed reputation. I'm a fan of some- but not all. I'm not a fan of Volvo gears. If i were...

Re: John Deere 6068tfm75's in an F32

nice engines.... IMHO- not right for the f-32. Very tall 35" and if i recall correctly- low power ( I thought 150-180 hp max at 2600 rpm)?

Re: Boat Insurance

Insurance on older boats can be a problem... for no logical reason in my book. You just have to shop around. You'll find some won't insure it at all and the ones that will , can vary wildly on price. My Trojan is a 1974, I have it insured for about 1/4 of the value of a freinds 2003 boat and I pay a...

Re: Dual Station F32 Flybridge removed / installed, problems

Nuetral saftey switches on the gears... if the upper helms worked before, clearly this is a wiring problem. Did you mark all the wires beofre and then confirm their location putting them back in? Did you perhaps touch any live wires to a ground and pop a fuse?

Re: F-32 WITH DIESELS IN CALIFORNIA...

12-16 knots is slow for twin 180hp diesels... it's a terrible operating speed for the F-32 as it's right on the hump. My F32 with twin 200's cruises at a solid 20 knots and tops out at 24 knots loaded so something doesn't seem quite right about those numbers. While $60k seems unrealistically optomis...

the f-32's bilge low point is the forward bilge. Any water entering the bilge anywhere, flows to low point (right under the access panel at the bunk step). Not sure I understand what you mean by the pump keeps up with the sea cock drip. Are you saying the leaking sea cock is in then engine room? If ...

Dave Gerrs book is excellent to document strut to prop clearance. I agree the rule of thumb is 1/2-1 shaft diameter clearance. It really bother me that someone in the marine field would say that sliding the shaft aft 3" is OK. It's not (fro a bunch of reasons) and I would be running from this g...

If your measurements are from feeler gauges between the flange faces, .040" is terrible and .020" is still too much. I usually align to within .003", but some guys are fine with .007". Also-no disprespect intended- but given your question about wether the disconnected shaft shoul...
