Oil weight and type recommended

I recently purchased a 1979 F-32. It has the chrysler 318's. The generator is a 6500 watt Onan. The previous owner used Valvoline 10w-40 but I have been told that it would be good to go to a straight 30w. Just wondering what everyones thoughts were before I do my spring maintenance.
Thanks

Upper Helm steering pump

Does anyone know where one might be able to get a replacement helm pump that would match up to the original on a 1979 trojan 32. Found a leak on the left side where the small round plastic push button goes in. Button broke and is allowing fluid to come out of the side of the pump and leak down the h...

Cruisair question?

Recently bought a 79 F-32. It has a cruisair unit built in sitting in between the two engines. The unit feels like it is cooling fine but not ever owning one before I have nothing to compare it to. What maintenance needs to be done to these units, if any, to keep them cooling as cold as possible. Th...

Generator Issue

Engine won't start

I was out on the boat this weekend and the starboard engine was working great saturday night and sunday morning. Engine started fine sunday morning, went out to a cove and relaxed for about 7 hours. Went to start both engines and the starboard engine wouldn't do anything. Port engine started and ran...
