Thanks for all the info the 5/16 fit much better than the 1/4 that I had got.. I think the wrong size had been in ther all along, must be why they weere leaking....


any recomendation on how tight to put them while out of the water?

Sounds good.. I have 1 3/8. ..... I thought it looked a little loose...

How tight did you guys tighten the box with it out of the Water. Thanks for all the help.

Stuffing boxes / Packing F36

Hello, Looking for recomendations on packing for a 1985 F36. I removed old packing and placed the new 1/4 inch packing on the box but it does not appear to be sitting tight against the shaft is this normal or should there be bigger packing in here..... What does the reset of the group use on the F 3...

What is the reason that some of you recomend keeping the small on motor filter, and not using only the racor... I plan on keeping the Carb filter / screen but wanted to move that little Spin on Canister next to the starter?

hello, the screen at the carb is clean....

what about the check valve at the tank any one with ideas on how to check that... what are the common issues with the pickup everyone is talking about..

Guys thanks for the Quick replies, what is the best was to check / test the pickup?

Alexander I do have the Quadrajet where is that screen located?...

The carbs have had no recent work and the fuel pumps are pretty old? maybe original it is a 1985...

Let me know how to test the pickup..

Hello A question for all I have a F36 which has a starboard motor that out of the hole can maitain RPS's over 3000 RPM's for about1 Minuter then bogs down to 2800 RPms and lower... where did you get the rubber cores? That is what I am looking for?


Are yours bolted down to the backing board? My forward one was not.. How is it attached, just to the backing board? any pictures Mine are two bolt also..

Does any one know the name brand of the fresh water plumbing fittings that were used on an 1985 F-36? Do you need a tool for them, the appear the have little metal anchors thet grab the fitting to prevent it from coming out.. I have some that are leaking and want to replace them?
