Re: Digital Dash and automation on Trojan F36 tri-fly

I too am interested in your project. I put an RS11 in our 73 F36 when I owned her and two Lowarance 520c chartplotters on the flybridge console to get a set of guages with alarms in front of my view vs off to the right hand side where all the mechanical guages were. I monitored voltage, oil pressure...

Trojan F36 Sold, but I'm not going anywhere...

All, As a few of you know we sold our 1973 Trojan F36 last week. They say the happiest days are the first and the last day you own a boat, but that could not be further from the truth. We had our F36 for ten years. It was a wonderful boat. I did spent a few 1000 hrs saving her from the scap heap, bu...

Re: 1972 F-36 Salon window leaks

Frank. Just my $0.02 but it has been stated a couple times in this thread already that their are drains on the outside of the window frame. On our F36, they were aft, a series of 3/16" holes drilled into the aluminum at the bottom of the frame. We owned the boat for over 10 years and the first ...

Re: ACT Paint color

After soda blasting and sealing our F36 with Interlux Interprotect 2000e we applied Interlux Micron CSC. We rolled on black. It fades out a little over the summer, but if you are at a beach, you can simply scub it with a brush or course rag and the oxidized layer will sluff off. I think its been 3 s...

Re: F36 Convertible Sliding Door Track

Several years ago, I took a dremel to the track and smoothed out a couple bumps. Then I replaced the old wheels with sealed roller bearings from the local Ace Hardware store. Cost was < $30 and its rolled great ever since. In fact, we don't leave the dock without catching the door hook to hold it op...

Re: Spray rails

They are easy to replace. You can order teak strips, about 1" thick , screw, glue, and layup in 3-4 layers, sand and paint. I replaced the rails on our F36 a couple years back. think the cost was about $200.

Re: Autopilot with Chain Steering?

Our F36 has a chain driven auto-pilot. I disabled it years ago since on the upper Mississippi there is not much need. I will not be unwrapping the boat for another month, but when I'm board, I will information for you. 7 years ago, I know the company was still in business. the gear box is installed ...

Re: Teak Deck Refinish

So, I have a different twist to this. When I bought our boat year ago, I spent most of the first summer prepping teak toe rails, cockpit caps, and cockpit floor and then 7 coats of UV varnish (used Interlux Goldspar . The boat sits out in the sun all summer, and under a tarp for the winter, but in j...

Re: List For Santa

Dear Santa, When you elves are done in the toy shop up north, have them come finish my bow deck project please. Cracks are filled, filling primer laid down, but lots of sanding and 2-3 top coats left to go on everything above the rubrail. Brightsides is great stuff, but ever 3-4 years it needs a new...

That should work. By having a smaller unit, you can have a much smaller element and let time be your friend. Let us know how it turns out.

Re: Tankless Water Heaters

The biggest problem is the amount of current they draw. Even the smallest ones often require 50+ Amps of power. Since most of our boats have single 25A or dual 25A service, even with the lightest demand, you would think you would be tripping any breaker in your panel or the one at the pedestal at th...
