It cost me $7,500 to replace an outdrive that got eaten along with the gimble housing and everything else. It was the boat next to me that had the electrical problem but I paid the price.

Welcome, I have Fords and like them, BUT, if I were in the same boat as you, :D , and cost is always a factor, I would get GM 350ci, 270 hp, just for the reasons mentioned. A very common motor for a reason and if you want economy and dependability, in my opinion the chrysler 360 is NOT it....my 2 ce...

c twin, marine plywood and treated lumber. simple project. If it doesn't outlast me it's easy to replace. I had help but really didn't need it. If you look around below decks you'll see where to attach.

I don't have any pics but I cut my material and hem to size and velcro strips in several places along the edge. stick them in place at night and remove in the morning. Simple and affective.

A wood boat project is like the persuit of marriage to a great woman, a lot of full time work to get it floating but the warmth and smooth ride are well worth the continued commitment to try to understand the complexities in detail.....been there, done that.
