Replacing the Deck

Has anyone tackled this job? My deck will need to be replaced. I'm thinking of just taking off the vinyl now to stop any more moisture getting trapped in. Then I assume it is a matter or putting on new ply. I'm wondering already about whether to take the deck off and leave it off while I tackle prob...

Not enough info.... Is it in the water or stored in a yard? Is it covered or just open to the elements? Are the windows/hatch(es) closed? How did the water get in the bilge, or was it there when you stored it? Your bilge pump runs off the battery, and it the boat's stored why do you need the bilge ...

Bilge full of Ice

Remember my bilge that I could never keep dry? Well now it's about 6 inches of solid ice.

I'm guessing my bilge pump (if it worked in the first place) is dead now, but I'm more concerned about the hull.

Do you think it would have caused any harm.

I'm not sure what people are thinking with these small boats. While we were on our patrol this past Sunday the same situation came up, an overloaded 18' boat taking on water in Willoughby spit. Hampton Fire and Rescue pulled that lot out. This lot weren't as lucky. The chop in the York River was alr...

Ah okay, I only caught it briefly when the story was first coming out, they thought it was the beach. I was amazed because I just happened to miss all the worst parts. Every time I went out it was just sprinkling or nothing, then I see that.

Hope none of you guys were out today, imagine it got a bit rough, especially after seeing the damage at that marina in VA Beach. Looked like a hurricane had been through.

Hmmm... bit of a waste of time really, but I guess they need something to do around here. Probably just liked your boat and needed an excuse.

Just so you know, you can get a free vessel safety exam from the Coast Guard Auxiliary units in the area. Typically, with the inspection sticker displayed, the CG won't bother boarding you. It's also a really good assist for safety.

... I'm not biased or anything though.

Thanks, but I'm still not finding it. I have two thru-hulls on the bow and to port, but they are both situated under the v-berth (which has some sort of box under it) which are already on the upward curve of the hull. There was what felt liek some protrusion on the inside of the hull but I can't see...

After looking today, I don't see any existing plugs. What is it that I can see on your transom couple inches above the bottom and just above the prop shaft strut in this image? http://www.flickr.com/photos/jason-wilson-design/2704432901/sizes/o/in/set-72157606390162717/ I thought it was a plug too ...

I'm pretty sure some boats under federal agencies have Halon systems in their engine rooms. I just know it can be nasty stuff (to my health, not the environment). Two members of our Aux flotilla are volunteer firemen though so I'll have to ask them too.

Halon

While looking for my missing drainhole, I paid a bit of attention to my Halon fire extinguisher. The nozzle on it seems to be very corroded and I don't have a warm fuzzy feeling about it going off. It doesn't look to be connected to anything so it should just be a matter of taking it out of the brac...
