I haven't been down to check yet but if there isn't one I will certainly be putting one or more in. Also, I plan to fill the area of the bilge under the cabin floor with foam, there seams to be no reason to have this open space inside the cabin floor to collect water. I wouldn't. I've got another bo...

In the "engine room" there should be a shelf where two or more batteries sat, one for each engine. If it is not obvious where they were, find the starter on one engine. It should have a a thick 0-2 guage cable running off it, likely red. Follow this cable until you find a batter post end....

Regarding bilge pumps in the engine bilge, how do you get around the dangers of pumping oil overboard?

Also, for damage control, for a large hole a seat cushion or mattress braced by a couple of boat poles can do a bit to help slow or stop the water.

Just went out and had a look. Nothing I can see. I looked all over the transom and looked at the hull between the back of the skeg and the transom. If there was ever anything there it's gone now.

The odd thing is it make perfect sense for it to be there as it is a trailer-able boat.

I don't think ours has one. There are two holes drilled into the stern by the previous owner but they're not low enough on the transom for all the water to come out and there seems to be a dam between the forward bilge and the engine bilge.

I'll have to have another look around.

You're in Yorktown? I'm just the other side of the water! Any chance I could come by for a look?

Electrics 'Patch'

Hello again all! My Trojan is still sat in the dry-yard ($900 of my boat money gone so far) and I can't keep water out of her. I've had tarps over it made sure everything thing is closed but just can't keep it out and I'm tired of siphoning it each time I go down. There is a bilge pump (with a rats ...

Believe me I'm trying. A member of our auxiliary flotilla has a mooring behind his house he'd let us use. I'm thinking if I can do a quick an cheap patch on the hull and get it into the water I can get a tow over.

Sea Raider in the Virginia Bay Area

Does anyone want her? I know most of you have seen the photos already but here they are again http://flickr.com/photos/jason-wilson-design/sets/72157606390162717/. Biggest project I know of is a deck replacement but I haven't had it surveyed. She's on blocks in Crown Pointe Marina in Hayes, VA. I li...

I don't doubt you're right, that's why I'm here. Had fingers crossed thinking she could help us but I know it's not likely.

Hmmm... the price on Boats looks to be low $20's high teens. The NADA value for a 1972 Sea Raider is about $4k.

Where would you guys set the asking price weighing the work that needs to be done?

Yeah I know condition and seller are going to be the heaviest factors, but if the same boat in good condition would be valued at 30k or something I don't want to let it go for $100.

I guess, since I've never sold anything like this before I'm just looking at a baseline.

Valuing a Trojan

I'e got another question to ask. As much as I'd hate to have ot turn around and sell our Sea Raider, our financial outlook has just gotten very shaky and I'm not sure that I can spend the money to even patch the hole in the stern and get her running and hauled into the water (at which point we can m...

I'm well ahead of myself again as I should be worrying about how to ge tthe rest of the water out of my bilge rather than what I will do when I have to refit the cabin but... How about it? Has anyone remodeled the cabin of their Trojan from stock? How much leeway do you have with the weight? I've co...
