Re: Raw water alarm saves the day

Glad to hear that the Borel alarms work so well. I just ordered 2 alarms with 3 exhaust temperature sensors, 2 water in fuel sensors and 2 high water alarms for our "new" 1987 President 41 Double Cabin. I am replacing the 2 non marine Racor 900's with 900 MA's and am going to have the WIF...

Re: River bottom place for Onan?

Sell it lots of people like them . I assume you don't spend much time on the hook ? But before you get rid of it , with a boat like yours selling without a genset limits buyers . Most that cruse want and need a genset . Unless its a dock queen I would leave it in . Just my 2 cents worth . +1 I coul...

Re: WayWeGo Repairs and Improvements

I have a Purasan and it is not noisy.... I would not do away with a holding tank as there are NDA's (No Discharge Area's) that will require you to lock out your heads without one. I have a Y valve piped in so I can select Purasan or holding tank for head output.

Re: trim around f32 sliding door?

My boat has a fiberglass bunk running across the floor that it sits on and is sealed top on bottom with likely Butyl-l tape. Here is a better picture that is bigger so you can look at the top and bottom more closely. Mine is a '78 with glass aft deck..... if yours is wood, which I suspect being '72 ...

Re: Crazy Idea...

Michael, where do you spend most of your FL time cruising? Do you stay on the west side as well? Do you ever take the canal across and if so, how many hrs'? When you head back north, do you leave your boat in the water or do they dry dock you? So far I have not been across the canal but that is on ...

Re: Crazy Idea...

Consider keeping it on the Gulf side.... you will save money over east coast.

It's not crazy I do it... only problem for me is the weak C$ is making it hurt this year.... costs me 30% more than last year.

Re: Maxwell 500 windlass issue

Most windlasses have an adjustment ontop, clockwise to tighten the gypsy on chain/rode and counter-clock to loosen/freewheel. Sounds like yours has worked loose over time and hence the windlass slips. Mine uses a square key on lever arm to tighten/loosen. Look at yours and see what it looks like the...

Re: shaft packing question

I use one of my dentists old pick tools to get the packing out. I don't see the amount of water entering when last ring is removed and first new one is installed as much of a problem.... the flow is not that much as the space around shaft is not that big. Yes you get water in the bilge but that is w...
