Re: prop spin

I'm all good Rick, really busy at this time of year though. I pop in almost every day still. You guys are doing a great job addressing all the inquiries. Still a great place for all things Trojan. I sure do miss my old gal.

Re: prop spin

I have the same issue, and found it the same way... However, I also have a small crack in a freeze plug just outside the flywheel diameter. Water comes out, and sprays the clutch and i believe is the cause of the clutch dragging. (corrosion in the springs??) I'm not exactly sure what to do about th...

Re: What’s wrong with this picture?

That’s a great resource and a perfect explanation of why you are supposed to end up with the small jam nut first followed by the larger main nut.

Re: Sanitary hose replacement fun

It should be mentioned that this has the potential of being a messy job. Before you start, flush some fresh water through the toilet several times, then get a pump out. As several techs in the industry have experienced, I would also caution that this is a potential bio hazard and protective gear sho...

Re: Sanitary hose replacement fun

All the major hose manufacturers make sanitation hose. Dometic makes a very good one albeit pricey, however if you buy the cheapest one, you'll being doing this again in 5 years if conditions are right. The hose, type of system, and the routing/installation all contribute to the hose's longevity and...

Re: What’s wrong with this picture?

.....Prop nuts by the book thin nut first then the thick nut ..... No ya did it, you went and opened up a can of worms again:wink: Some will argue, but yes, thin (jam) nut against the prop, then the thick nut last. The proper way to install a prop is to slide the prop on, use the thick nut first an...

Re: fuel water separators

Nothing wrong with the original filter. If you're using blended fuel though, I would keep a close eye on the condition of the inside of the bowl, it's likely to corrode in ethanol blended fuels. That's one of the pros of the throwaway spin-ons, you don't have to worry about that particular piece of ...

Re: Domestic fridge on board?

Give your current and possible future needs some thought before you purchase the inverter. You want enough output to handle your current needs and perhaps a bit more for future expansion. The problem is the higher the output the higher the installation costs. There is a point where the cost of the i...

Re: Tuna Door

It would be at least twice that cost in the great white north! Bottom line is get it done by someone reputable that won't take shortcuts with the build or materials. Can't stress enough that simply cutting a hole won't do it, there must be proper structural support added to maintain the integrity of...

Re: fuel water separators

The spin-on filters and Racors both have their pros and cons. The spin-ons are easier to replace and can be found at just about any marine retailer or marina. You can't just remove a plug to check for water but if you replace them after every season, you should be okay unless you have a big problem ...

Re: Crusader 454 xli fuel issue?

Could be a number of things but try the easy stuff first. I believe you have TB injection which should have two fuel filters, and while most folks change the spin-on filter regularly, they seldom replace the in-line one by the throttle body. It's an easy place to start before getting into something ...

Re: What battery charger would you go with? Promariner or Mastervolt

I've installed both brands but way more Pronautic P series (Promariner) than Mastervolt units. Both are dependable and both have failure rates. I've been involved with 3 Pronautic P failures if I remember correctly. One was definitely the result of a lightening strike, and another one was what I sus...
