Re: F26 Gauge Replacement Summary

Great post-- thanks--- it seems many people are having the same gauge issues---- I had the same problem with temp sender on small block mopar and ended up drilling and tapping a new larger hole to accommodate the only senders you can get now---- my stuff is the same ,some work and most I don't trust...

Re: Pulse's Per Rotation

Read some info on electronic forum where they talked about ppr and they not only counted the pulse spikes but also the spaces between------ on a crank trigger type they used a default of 60 ppr so that 16 number may not be far off---- their tech person should be able to say exactly what to use--- Mike

Re: Pulse's Per Rotation

I am pulling right off the sender off the back of the tach to a Noland RS11 analog to digital converter. Then it displays on a lowrance head unit. The ppr is a number I program into the RS11. Try running a temporary wire from coil like prowlerfish mentioned instead of from your tach ,sometimes thes...

Re: Fuel filters

Sounds like the idle circuit might be gummed up---- with the idle at 750 to 800 rpm, throttle plates closed you should be between 1.5 and 3 turns open no more--- remember closed is lean and open is rich------ sometimes to overcome a vacuum leak you will have to fatten it up to get it to idle---- thos...

Re: Oil level

It seems you have the pan dry now---- so just fill with the correct amount of oil for that particular pan ,put stick in and note the mark of the oil and drill a small hole or file a slot--- also you could fill the pan one quart short, mark that and then add a quart, mark that, and that would be the f...

Re: Butyl Tape or 3M 4200

Having read what you are saying about the screws , maybe you could thru bolt and backplate only the ones that you can access---- then upsize the screws on the others----- that should stiffen things up I would think---- the comments about 5200 are right on ,but it does bond well.---- Mike

Re: reverse rotation timing sprockets / gears

Good to see the end result all worked out ok.---seems like it is the small stuff more often than not----I have changed cranks etc a few times with engines all together,Lot's of fun heh, usually takes about 8 hands and 6 eyes to keep everything ok. ---Mike

Re: power windlass for trojan F36

To add a bit--- the model I have is chain, rope and it is automatic--- meaning it has a free fall and it locks so that cleating off is not needed, although would probably be wise overnight-- Mike

Re: reverse rotation timing sprockets / gears

If it were me I would compare the new gear with the old with calipers, sometimes just .001" difference in size of crank snout and gear could alter the way they fit together.---- can you put old gear back on and why was it changed???---- as to the clicking ,would have to hear it---- also is that...

Re: reverse rotation timing sprockets / gears

Which sprocket is sticking out further?--- in my opinion those gears should mesh even--- make sure the crank sprocket is the same thickness and is seated on the crank correctly--- also check that cam is not being interfered with by the oil drive gears--- those engines just have a distinctive whine l...
