Re: steering question

Had someone replace steering on my '79 F32 during the winter of 2016/2017. Pumps used for upper and lower helm were Teleflex Seastar p/n HH5271-3. Ram was Teleflex Seastar p/n HC5312-3 model BA125. We left all the old tubing in place as it still worked with new pumps and ram (I think there was some ...

Re: '75 44 Sportfisher

These are fairly rare. There is one near me that usually charters out of Port Credit, ON, but saw them sitting in my marina yard a month ago with a big diesel (DD I think) sitting in the yard beside it. Rebuild time I guess.

Re: F32 shower pump

Not sure if you are saying nothing comes out the thru-hull when the pump runs, or that the pump is not running, or that the floor pan doesn't drain, or what combination of the above... Been a very long time but in mine I believe I found a strainer in the hose between the shower pan and the pump (and...

Re: F26 Cockpit Windows

Okay... not the best of shots, but here's the idea https://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1974/Chris-Craft-35-Double-Cabin-3018627/#.WzV1_Ionbcs Scroll through this to the helm shot, and you can see the knob on a slider in front of the helm. Loosen the knob, push the slider forward, then tighten it down. ...

Re: What is that on the transom?

Looks like they may be trying to stretch speed / fuel economy a bit by slightly increasing hull length. But more likely something they have done to reduce chances of stern waves / wake coming up and catching the bottom of the swim platform.

Re: F26 Cockpit Windows

Of course I can't find any pictures online quickly, but I have seen a different kind of mechanism that I will try to describe... Picture a piece of railing mounted to the dash, running fore and aft, about a couple of feet long. There is a fitting that slides back and forth on the railing, and it has...

Re: Not able to reach top end on F32

The speed is about right for those RPMs (at least what I get with my 16x16 cupped props), so probably not a case of drag and you likely have the right props if you match the normal speed curve. Start with the easy stuff first... Are throttle detents or cable length keeping you from pushing to true f...

Re: 1977 F30 318 cuts off under load

Ok... how many batteries do you have, and how are they wired, and if there is there a 'crossover' switch what position is it in? If basic staring is an issue, it sounds electrical to me. Fuel sucking off the same tank with plugged vent or filters could be an issue, but other answers you have given s...

Re: Seats and frames for 74 Trojan f25

If Beacon doesn't have the frames (which they probably won't) you are just looking at a custom SS shop or people who do boat covers / biminis / frames to bend what you need. The seats are a bit more complicated, and other posts on this forum have talked about building / rebuilding seats.

Re: 1977 F30 318 cuts off under load

Agree re the filters, or possibly float or choke issue.

I also once had an issue with distributor not advancing but symptoms are different - couldn't climb above a certain RPM, but engine didn't quit.

Re: Catrostrophic hull failure

Oh yeah ... and structurally.... like Paul I would like to see pictures of how the hull is bowed out etc if possible ... Depending on how far it is flexed I would find it hard to believe there is no structural damage (aside from the holes in the bottom, of course... and if someone looks at them and ...

Re: Catrostrophic hull failure

If I am understanding from your first post correctly - that there was some blocking up front and at the chines at the back, and nothing else, it was definitely blocked wrong. It's not a case of using the 'wrong type of blocking'. The people who blocked it are incompetent and fundamentally blocked it...

If you are worried about the cost to Beacon, and I am glad you are, how about supporting the site with a donation? It is not cheap hosting the site and there are other costs besides the storage that are probably quite significant. I always do support the site ... just haven't gotten around to re-up...

Re: Posting Photos for the Forum

Pictures can be uploaded directly to the forum, but (as bad as this may sound it's actually good...), you should try to find an external hosting provider like Google, or OneDrive, or others, who you can just link to. Beacon pays a certain amount to host this forum / site. The more pictures that are ...

Re: F-32 Performance Curves

I didn't take a detailed look at these numbers until now... I see the notes under the summary table in the second picture talk about range in terms of statute miles, not nautical miles, so I am wondering if the speeds reported are in statute MPH and not knots? If the speeds shown ARE statute, my num...
