Welcome to the forum Teejae. I have a PVC Zodiac and a self-contained Mercury outboard (small and light) mounted on Weaver davits (on the swim platform) I have never needed to get on plane with it so this small, light set-up works well for me. Do you think you'll have enough power with the smaller motors, and what props will you use to push 16000# loaded? I guess it won't be too bad at trawler speeds which is more enjoyable anyway.
