Re: 1981 F32 steering

I just gutted my 78 F32 last season of its Syten steering system. I was constantly having seals leak and many parts were impossible to find. The steering was always poor in my boat. After I replaced the system with the Teleflex system the boat handles great and it was defiantly worth the investment ...

Re: Painfully Slow

It has been painfully slow as of late. But I attributed this due to my crappy internet connection in the third world country I am deployed in. On a positive note 50 more days till splash!!!

Ready, you have no problem running with your "dink" hanging our past your transom? I would love to have a 10 ft dinghy, but don't want to take the motor off every time!

Thanks for the pic! It allows me to have some perspective on what it will look like.

Thanks guys. I was certain it was around 10ft at the transom. A 8-9ft dinghy should do the trick.

Happy New Year from Juba, South Sudan! I am dreaming of the blue waters of Lake Huron. The Nile River just does not have the same beauty!

I am sitting in a war zone in the butt hole of Africa at the moment and just dreaming about my boat. I want to get a dinghy for spring and don't know if if a 9ft dingy would hang out past the sides of the transom. BTW, Happy New Year to all my fellow Trojan boaters. I hope you have calm waters and s...

F32 Transom Width?

I am just sitting on the other side of the world from my boat at the moment and dreaming of projects when I get home. Just wondering if anyone off hand can tell me the approximate transom width of the F32?

I have ran my F32 both at haul speed and on plane for long trips. I get almost double the fuel economy at haul speed. That is a whopping 2.2 nautical miles per gallon vs the 1.0 nautical mile per gallon on plane.

I cruise at 2800rpm in my 78 F32 and see 16kts. My fuel burn is 16gph combined. This gives me about 1 ktmile / gal.

I have had minor leaks at my Syten cylinder since I bought the boat (11 years ago), and I know some checkvalves are shot as the steering 'creeps' if I have a strong a crosswind (I have to continually and gradually turn into the wind to keep the boat going straight - I have put a full turn and half ...

Not that I want to spend money, but this Syten system never ran smooth. Even when bleed of air it was very stiff and jerky. I am still researching what my best options are, but a couple of the hose fittings are weeping, the lower helm would weep slightly, and now the ram is leaking. My gut tells me ...

I have only used teleflex steering fluid as was recommended to me. The fluid I drained out of the system was a horrible grey color with a much thicker viscosity.
