Re: Sherwood Double Pocket Pump Cams

I found a parts list for my 1971 Chrysler LM318 that stated the Sherwood part number for the cam was 10627. Sherwood part number 15883 was listed by Sherwood as the replacement for Sherwood part number 10627, so I ordered two cams, part number 15883. I also ordered two impeller kits (Sherwood part n...

Sherwood Double Pocket Pump Cams

I need to replace the cams in my Sherwood Double Pocket Pump (1971 Chrysler 318, raw water cooled). The pump body part number is 11454. When I do a search I get "obsolete pump body" as a result. Does anyone know what cams I need for my pump? Since they're around $40 each I want to make sur...

Bottom Paint

Approximately how much should it cost to apply an epoxy barrier coat and bottom paint (Micron CSC) on a 26 foot boat? Thanks for the help.

Re: Which Trojan model is this?

The Trojan F26 only has 5 degrees of deadrise. Boats designed to go offshore typically have between 18 degrees and 24 degrees of deadrise. It doesn't mean you can't take it offshore, but be careful and pick your days. It's not designed for big waves.

Re: 1971 F26 Front Window

I checked the boat yesterday and the inside was bone dry after several days of rain. The polycarbonate window and Dow Corning 795 adhesive sealant did the trick! :D

Re: Squirrelly Electrical

Since everything went dark at the same time I would guess you have a bad ground connection somewhere. I would start at the fuse panel, but if you want to be methodical you can start at the battery and work your way forward. When I bought my boat the fuse panel had a lot of loose connections. The PO ...

Re: Lifespan

I bought my Trojan because it had an inboard. After 14 years of maintaining a sterndrive I had had enough. My 48 year old boat is still going strong. I just launched her today and she ran well. I did have to put a new battery in, but that's not the boat's fault. They simply don't make boats like thi...

Re: 1971 F26 Front Window

After letting the adhesive sealant between the polycarbonate and the frame cure for a week I went back and put adhesive sealant on top of the polycarbonate where the polycarbonate meets the vertical part of the frame. https://i1263.photobucket.com/albums/ii624/clastewart/New%20Window%20Before%20Trim...

Re: 1971 F26 Front Window

I installed the Makrolon front cabin window today using the Dow Corning 795 adhesive sealant. Everything went very well. The polycarbonate conformed to the shape of the window frame much better than the Plexiglas. I have an inch of contact between the polycarbonate and the sealant which is much more...

Re: shaft packing,traditional or dripless

I replaced my flax packing with Gore GFO packing five years ago. It was the best thing I ever did. I have it adjusted so there are no drips when the packing is at ambient temperature and about 1 drop every six seconds when the packing is warm. In five years I never needed to readjust the tightness o...

Re: Anyone had a Sideshift stern thruster installed?

That should work. It will be 4 inches below the waterline instead of 5 inches, but the Sideshift representative seems to think that would be ok. The only downside is you will be putting two holes through your transom beneath the waterline, but if you seal it well with 5200 sealant it should be fine....

Glad to help. Please post lots of pictures when you do the install. Maybe I can convince my wife that we can't live without it.

Re: Anyone had a Sideshift stern thruster installed?

My understanding was that you needed top of propeller blades to be about 5" below waterline... you don't have that depth on an F26? Since the engine in the F26 is in the back third of the boat the bow sits pretty high. You can see that the boot stripe is at the waterline at the stern but is qu...

Re: Anyone had a Sideshift stern thruster installed?

The F26 bow does not sit deep enough in the water to use the Sideshift bow thruster. I've done all the measurements and it won't work. A tunnel bow thruster could work on an F26, but it would have to be pretty far back to be deep enough which means the thruster would need to be stronger than normal ...
