Re: Heavy Oxidization

Jimbo, correct, I used a variable speed buffer set to 1400 rpms, and went higher pressing very lightly with the finer compound. Used wool pad for heavier compound, and went with the 3M foam pad for finer grit. Important thing to point out. Many think the harder you press, the better the compound wor...

Re: Where's my windless solenoid?

I have an 88 11 meter but have a good windlass. All my solenoids were located on a bracket that was part of the windlass mounting. Access was through the anchor locker. I do not have experience with the seawolf, but assume they all work off the same 3 solenoid system? Try the Seawolf website to see ...

Re: Heavy Oxidization

Our boat was heavily oxidized as well when we got her. I started with a mild to heavy rubbing compound using a power orbital buffer at slow speed. Not happy with what I got without a LOT of buffing, I resorted to wet sanding. But I used 1400 first using water misting with dish soap added to the wate...

So long old girl

It has been said, that the happiest day to a boater is the day he buys his boat, and the day he sells his boat. Well, I can say, not true for us.... After 25 years of fun and memories, we have sold our first 'real' boat. All the kids grew up on her and loved it. My oldest even admitted to shedding a...

Re: New to us Trojan 370 Express Cruiser

Congrats as well, it is basically a twin to ours, minus the upholstery colors. We get asked all the time, " how wide it that boat"? I also love the layout. We recently took a 10 day cruise up to Mackinaw Island (michigan), with 8 on board, and had plenty of room. Even had the opportunity t...

Re: Engine sync at idle ?

Great discussion on the engines and sync. But back to the docking. Honestly, when I come up to our slip and get into the approximate position, I let go of the steering wheel. I dock it with just the engines. Our slip is in a slower current river, and you always have current to work with (wind and cu...

Re: '87 11 Meter Express steering issue

Glad you got it figured out, also anxious to hear what it was. Sharing problems are 25% of the deal. How you fixed it is the other 75%. I have an 88 11 meter and the steering is vey easy. Love the teak on the deck on yours. 11 meters are great boats. Hope you enjoy as much as we do ours!

Re: First Boat engine question

Ditto on the oil, and oil pressure? Are you over 20psi? Have you run it with the cover off the valves? Sometimes ( althogh can be a bit messy) it necessary to adjust the lifters while it is running. You may have a bad or leaky hydraulic lifter. If oil pressure is low, you can put in a bottle or two ...

Re: New guy...questions

Hey, if you didn't sink, blow an engine, it didn't start on fire, or you got pulled over and ticketed for out dated registration or safty check, did not hit anything, run a ground or run, out of gas, or the 1,245 other bad things that can happen, i'd say a successful day on the boat. :!: :D :D Hopin...

As suspected, the aluminum pan the genset sits on is mounted to the stringers. See photos. Hope this helps

Re: 11 Meter Generator Pics Needed

I have an 88 11 meter express, and will try to get you some pictures tomorrow. If memory serves me correctly, mine sits in an aluminum drip pan that is bolted to the stringers right above the holding tank.

Stay tuned.
