In very many cases it is part of the trans . in others it is a separate unit The links I posted are on the ones that are part of the trans . can you post a photo ? I looked at one F28 on the net it had a the V-drive trans together it was a pragon trans/vdrive Not sure what lub it takes the should be...

I have never seen a V-drive as part of the trans. Make sure you are not talking 2 seperate units and not confusing the two. ie; a velvet drive coupled to a walter V drive. Two very differant things. A lot folks say the would not take a boat out on one engine . I don't see a proplem other then your turning is fair oneway and docking can be fun .
They make single engine boats don't they ?

If its a Velet drive stick with AFT. motor oil is ok if you do not ever go over 3000 rpm I asume the v drive is part of the trans and not a remote unit ?

The marine grade ( like ancor) is made to flex and stand vibration

Try sanding the shaft some above the shaft collar or you can cut the collar. if your replacing the rudder you can cut the shaft ( like I did yesterday . ) why are you replacing the Rudders ?
