Re: 1975 F32 Trojan Endless Love <3

The wooden box on the port side encloses the forward vent that is on all the f32 models, someone has changed the outside appearance with the big box louvers.Imo, doesn't look very safe to me. This could be the which way should the vent louvers face ??? :P The big hose is going down to the engine com...

Re: cetol application

You really do not want Gloss where your feet come into contact. I would sand off down to bare wood. Re-apply 3 coats of light, natural or orange. I have applied gloss to the facing of the steps only. For appearances purpose only. There is some clear see thru non skid tape that I have used for the s...

Re: Mounting a handle on F32 transom.

Thanks prowlersfish. The swim ladder is near the starboard end of the swim platform. I guess I’ll just need to drill a hole to see how big the gap is. I have seen step on other F32 transoms. Is the transom thick enough to support a load like that? I’ll use backing plates on the inside. Another idea...

Re: water tank

Guys, these water tanks are easy to clean and repair. they are just fibreglass. Take out, take home, fill with water and watch where the leaks are and then restore in the garage. Cap, you are way overthinking this, there are maybe 20 some odd screws, on mine there were 4 long screws holding it to th...

Does that not have some weather stripping of some kind along that edge ??

Re: Cappy's f32 rehab

Actually I suspect my soft deck is more a result of a previous owner removing the bulkhead/door frame that separates the v berth. Removing the frame and starboard side of the bulkhead let the starboard hatch drop down about an inch. This created a dip that no doubt held rainwater against the hatch ...

Re: Ford 233 issues

Spoke to a good friend who is an old school mechanic. He says that it could be the timing chain is skipping a tooth. Which in turn could have bent a valve stem. So we are checking to see if its a valve or rings. Will keep you all posted. Ruled out timing chain. We had water in the fuel. Rectified t...

Re: AC Fuel gauges new tanks

When I put new moeller tanks in the same year f32, the old AC gauges would not work, had to get new ones.....the resistance range was off....did you connect the new senders at the termination block in the side panel ? Mike

Re: 83 36 foot tri cabin questions.

I completely agree with your position for what you want this boat for, I would just go and buy the darn thing, enjoy fixing it up how I want and quit talking about it, before someone else buys it out from under you. I will add that in my experience so far, all and I mean all boats are different, eve...

Re: 83 36 foot tri cabin questions.

So here is my advice at this point. Pay a surveyor who knows what he is doing to check only the stringers and bulkheads for you, that could not cost that much, certainly don't need any inventory of lifejackets et al. If not , you could easily put in a years work and my educated guess about 15k on th...

Re: 83 36 foot tri cabin questions.

The biggest cost factor on a new boat isn't fuel, it's DEPRECIATION ! Our boats don't come with that expense. There are only two ways to own an older boat: 1) be prepared to spend a great deal of money for someone to do repairs & maintenance 2) own the skillset, have the time and determination ...

Re: stansion repair

Go see your shrinkwrap guy....My best guess here, that is what pulled the posts in, there should have been a 2x4 spreader across the front deck between the railings to keep them from moving.

Is there any further damage past just loose.

Re: Cutting Taff rail

Any nice hand saw will work fine, if you are concerned about chipping just tape the cut and score with a knife first, but I think you will be just fine.

The fittings I got took quite some modifying to the wood to fit as wood end profile and the hinges did not match, was doable though.

Re: F32 V-berth door removal

+1 on the frearson. You can modify a Philips driver , but it is better to have the real deal.

The stain used by Trojan at the factory for our 78 was min wax red oak, I think the number was 215, yours looks like it might be the same. Looks good.
