Re: Dream Cruise of 2015
Rick, the trip across the Bay on the way over there was not all that comfortable, though the seas were not particularly high. They were 2-3' high slightly off our beam and just about the right period to generate an uncomfortable motion. I think it was because the tide was opposing the wind that caus...

A few more photos from our trip (still haven't figured out how to upload more than three photos per post): Leaving St. Michaels looking back at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. CBMM.jpg The Bloody Point Light at the mouth of the Miles River. Note the light fog that remained throughout the day. Bl...

Re: Dream Cruise of 2015
Our dream cruise of 2015 was this past weekend, when we crossed the Chesapeake Bay and went up the Miles River to St. Michaels, MD. On the way over, my wife and I were onboard with my daughter and one of her girl friends. Our daughter's boyfriend joined us for a day in St. Michaels and the cruise ba...

Re: 2016 Cheasapeke bay rendevouis Poll
Herring-ton Harbor South would be a decent Compromise for all parties. Tilghman Island and St. Michaels are on the other side of the Bay from Herrington Harbor and would be better for us. Herrington Harbor South and North are in Herron Bay, the only no discharge zone on the bay. We have a type 1 MS...

Re: 2016 Cheasapeke bay rendevouis Poll
We would certainly like to meet some of the folks that are on the forum. Anywhere from Point Lookout up the bay is good for us, though we are just south of Annapolis and closer is better!

Re: Going to purchase 1988 f32
We have BoatUS insurance on the Trojan and also had them on our previous boat. At first, we used the same carrier as our home insurance, as they were cheaper than BoatUS, but I got nervous because they specifically excluded spill liability. When I checked BoatUS again, they were almost 30% cheaper. ...

Chartplotter and Radar
We sometimes cruise at night and I have always missed having radar, so adding one to our boat has been on my list of things to do. With all the other things, it has not been at the top, but a recent promotion from Defender and Active Captain changed my mind. For those of you who are unfamiliar with ...

Re: Sewage plumbing
You are correct that PVC is not permeable, but you need to be very careful to support it so that it does not crack and make sure that the ends and any other flex areas are made up from a good quality sanitation hose. I used Trident Premium hose for our sanitation system. It is not cheap, but I only ...

Re: Tides up
This photo is from yesterday morning. Last night, the water was about 6" over the dock. We are well protected as there was a gale blowing on the bay a mile to the east with 4-5' waves! Winds were 25mph sustained with gusts to 35mph. With the water so clear, I could have inspected the bottom fro...

Re: Thinking Out Loud
We originally looked at trawlers in that same range, but pulled the trigger on a Trojan. The bottom line was the trawlers were more fuel efficient, but did not have as good use of space and cost at least twice as much for about the same boat. We figured we would be happier with the F36 layout and co...
