Re: My new personal policy
So far, only responses are from chronic supporters and contributors. Hmmmm. I hope said PM'er supports and contributes, and helps to build the knowledge base of this site. I (still) don't mind answering questions from new folks, because as the Chinese proverb goes, to teach something is to learn it ...

My new personal policy
I recently answered a PM without doing any research on who it was that was asking for help. By the time it was all said and done, I had spent about a half of an hour trying to get the information that they wanted to them. Not a big deal, as I have received much useful information from this forum and...

Re: Side Lights
Voltage is different from current, and the light needs both. You can measure 12v and have insufficient current to power the bulb. Most likely you have a corroded contact somewhere (not necessarily at the bulb) which is preventing adequate current from passing. Try loosening and re-tightening any scr...

Re: Epoxy : West system vs Mas epoxy
I built a boat -- okay, so it was a canoe, from 3 mm plywood that was covered with epoxy / varnish on the inside, and epoxy / glass / paint on the outside. I used MAS and had no problem. If you use the slow hardener, you don't have amine blush to deal with. The almost-local build-your-own-boat store...

Re: FYI Good prices on marine grade wire
Count me in as a satified customer of Genuinedealz. I bought my windlass cable and some other assorted spools of wire from them. No problems at all.

Re: SIGNS OF 'SPRING' AT PARKSIDE TODAY
before ENTERPRISE can leave the slip though, the fwd bilge pump will need to be replaced Most boats that sink do so in their slip Aaron! A non-functional bilge pump on the TBOY boat? Heresy! And yes, you should really think about dewinterizing. I plan to do so either this or next weekend, cause you...

Tricab dinghy size -- advice needed
I'm in danger of buying a dinghy for my 1985 tricabin. I plan to mount it on edge on the swim platform, using Seawise davits after I hit the lottery. My question is, how long of a dinghy can i safely stow this way? The transom is 11' wide, the swim platform is 10'. At least one other tri owner has a...

Re: Seacock parts
How about a picture of what you need? I just replaced all of the post-disco era seacocks on my Tricabin with fresh American-made bronze. The kids haven't melted all of them in the backyard forge (yet).

Re: Crusader blue paint
Not being able to believe the price, and needing some myself, I looked at 8 or 10 other places after I first posted. Most were ~$23 per can! Then I found this place with a slightly lower price than in my first response:

Re: This is a Strange one.......
How long did you let the hot water run -- enough to completely purge the "old" water in the tank and the long plumbing run? If you did not, you could have introduced dirty water into the system, or stirred-up gunk that had otherwise been happily sitting on the bottom of the tank that was d...

Boating log book
In my really expensive hobby, I am required by the FAA to keep a log of hours spent piloting (at least the hours that are required to show compliance with currency regs). No such log requirement exists for those casual captains cruising at 0 MSL. Nevertheless, this is my first full season having my ...
